Gushes of blood ~ is this normal?

My hyster was 11 Dec and I have gushes of 'blood'. Not bright red, but a dark red with a brown discharge through the day. When I have the 'gushes', I soak the pad and it does frighten me...
Is this 'normal'?

Gushes of blood ~ is this normal?

Karen, soaking a pad with a gush, I don't think that's normal. I would definitely call the doc.

Gushes of blood ~ is this normal?

Thanks, I'm waiting for the surgery to open. Without being too graphic, this morning I was simply lying in bed and I felt the gush. When I stood to have a look, it ran down my legs... A bit scary :-(

Gushes of blood ~ is this normal?

I went to visit my doctor yesterday and had a scan. It seems I have a clot about the size of a full bladder (large grapefruit) behind my vagina. Apparently this isn't uncommon, but not typical. It has slowed my recovery and will liquify and leak out at its leisure!!!
I'm not feeling very happy with the diagnosis, but am pleased that I haven't had to have any surgery or blood transfusions. Doctor said this will go on for a week or so, then I'll be back to normal.
Here's hoping. Right now I want my uterus (and all the other problems I had) back!!!
I'll keep everyone updated :-)
