Insurance Tip: Even Outpatient Surgery May Qualify for 1 Night Stay

One thing I learned and wanted to pass along to those getting ready for their procedure is to those with insurance coverage. Even if you are having an 'outpatient' procedure (like DaVinci), many insurance companies will approve up to 23 hours in the hospital bed - that's after you come out of recovery. It's great if you can take advantage of that both to manage any pain issues and to relieve your caregivers at home of any post-operative anxiety. I understand that's not necessarily a financial option for many, but it is worth asking the hospital to provide you a quote. You may find it's only a small amount of money and one of the best investments I have ever made. I hope this is helpful!
