Re: Progestogen Only Mini Pill -

Hi Sunny Daze!

I had years of dysfunction bleeding and used various things to help. Being on regular birth control pills was effective for a while but eventually they weren't helping as much plus my blood pressure became an issue. I didn't use a progesterone-only mini pill for dysfunctional bleeding but I did try several months of using Prometrium pills (bio-identical progesterone). That helped somewhat, but obviously not enough as I eventually did have a hysterectomy. What really helped most with reducing the amount of bleeding was high doses of ibuprofen, though eventually even that wasn't helping plus it was very rough on my digestive system.

I hope that using the progesterone is effective for you. Let us know if it helps, okay?

Re: Progestogen Only Mini Pill -

Hi April Dawn -

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I posted that question a while ago and never did try the mini-pill. I have a family history of blood clots and the idea of birth control frightened me a bit combined with a gut feeling that no matter which preventative measure I chose I would find myself in surgery.

I'm happy to say that I am coming up on my one year anniversary of my partial hysterectomy at the end of September and I cannot express in words how wonderful I feel!!!!

I now enjoy a pain free life with more energy than I know what to do with!
