I'm scheduled to have a LAH(?) in July. The very next day my daughter is playing in a field hockey tournament which will last for four days. My question is, will I be able to go and watch her play? We'll have a canopy set up for her to get out of the sun and I figure it would be a nice area for me to rest when I'm tired too. How soon did you guys get going afterwards? My doctor's office has said that most of their patients feel good enough to go home the same day of the surgery.

Thanks,

Alice

I don't know anything about that type of procedure, so I'm not sure what to say. I hope some of the ladies are familiar and will be able to advise you.

Did you mention any of this to your doctor? He should be able to advise you as to whether this would be feasible.

Take care and good luck with your surgery and recovery! Let us know how you are doing!

If you're having an abdominal hyst, I think being anywhere the next day is a little too ambitious. Granted, I haven't been there myself, but based on everything everyone here has been saying, the first couple of days it's all they can do to get out of bed and walk down the hall a little. But everyone is different.

I think you need to put the idea out of your mind completely. Feeling good enough to go home and feeling good enough to get in a car, walk through the parking lot, and sit all day are totally different things. You will probably feel worse the day after the surgery because all the hospital drugs will be worn off. And there's no guarantee you will even be out of the hospital by then. I had my gallbladder out laparoscopically which is a much easier surgery. There is no way I wanted to go anywhere for several days after surgery. In fact, I wouldn't consider it after any surgery including all the knee, ankle, etc surgery that I have had.
