5 weeks post op and feel like I am losing my mind!

Hello everyone I have a question. . I am 28 years old and 5 weeks post opp and feel like I am losing my mind. I can't sleep, cry and don't want anything to do with my husband. My Dr. put me on sleeping pills and antidepressants. I have had over 2 years of mood swing, pain, heavy bleeding and hot flashes but no one thinks its my hormones. My tubes were tied a little over 2 years ago. They put me on birth control pills to help but it didn't work. It hurt to have sex. I lost my health ins so I had to leave my gyn and see a free clinic. Well I remarried March 2011 and went straight to my old gyn. He told me on my pap appt. how do you feel about a hysterectomy? I didn't know what to think. Well I went with it and found out he had to take out my right ovary also. It was covered with scar tissue and cysts. I guess my question is can blood test come back "normal" hormone levels and still have signs of menopause? or maybe any other hormone imbalance? Is it all depression? Can one ovary produce all the hormones I need? Does it take time for the one ovary to get back to work alone?

Yes, it can take some time for your remaining ovary to function properly. With the removal of the uterus, the blood supply to the ovary can be interrupted and it can take some time for a new one to be established. Once the ovary functions fully again, it can provide all the hormones you need.

Keep in mind, it can take awhile for some. Weeks and months in fact. And there are times when the remaining ovary (or ovaries) stop working entirely.

Besides talking to your doctor about all of your past and current symptoms and asking if they are hormone related, you should also ask about your thyroid.

If you do not get the answers you need from your GYN, talk to your GP.

in there!

I am two weeks post op and feeling these exact same syptoms.....and have kept both ovaries. I definately need to talk to my doctor....and have them run some tests. It is the excessive crying and hot flashes from Hades that I can't stand.
