Itchy, Scaly Breasts *underneath*

Help, Sisters...

My LAH/BSO was last Wed, 3/20. I've only put a bra on once, after they removed the IV on Thur. Took it off as soon as we got home. The 'underside' of both breasts itches like crazy (where they touch my upper tummy). I must also be scratching during the night, because now I have a couple 'claw' marks. I have a few irritated bumps in the bottom crease of skin also. There is one wonderful product that works temporarily called "Anti Monkey Butt" powder. It's an Anti Friction Powder, containing calamine powder as well. But it only works a short time. I tried Hydrocortisone cream as well, but if there are any breaks in the skin, it burns like crazy. I want this gone before it gets hot/humid outside here in Mississippi. The Fall of 2011, it got so bad, I actually had a mild Yeast infection under my breasts. Talk about painful and itchy! Can anyone offer something I should be doing daily to relieve this itching? Right now, the skin is actually 'scaly' and red/inflamed where the most terrible itch is. Thank you

I have had this before and it drove me crazy. My doc suggested applying a vaginal anti fungal cream with clotrimazole for vaginal yeast infections. Calms the itching and treats the yeast overgrowth. Also try a very soft sleeping bra to keep the girls from touching other skin since the moisture will make it worse. Hope this helps and good luck with your healing.

THANK YOU! I never considered wearing a bra to bed, or putting the yeast med cream there! I'm trying this today!

Try Desitin lotion- and yes- it is the diaper rash cream.

Long before I had my surgery- I had problems with rashes- bumps that would fill up and ooze sometimes and I tried everything under the sun to keep them at bay- well- there came a day where I grabbed my kiddles' Desitin lotion and started applying small amounts on the irritated areas and I left it on for a full day.

Come the next day I started noticing a big decrease in irritation and I kept on applying the desitin for right about a week until it would stop for good. It also worked well for heat rash and a few other things- under the breasts- on the insides of the legs where the thighs meet the hips and it has also worked on rashes around the under-arm areas too.

You would be very surprised at how well certain diaper rash creams tend to work for certain types of irritations.

Just my experiences here.

Believe me hun when I say that you would be right about it being wonderful.

Just the smallest of things like diaper rash creams and would be ever day ointments- work just as well as prescripts or other creams.

I have long since become a huge Desitin fan hehehe.

Desitin sounds good too. I will also bear that one in mind next time I get a flare-up. I was also advised to use only soap for sensitive skin - no perfumes, dyes etc and no bubble bath and rinse thoroughly in clear water. I also do not use any body lotion on the underneath part of my breast. Mine seems to flare up during bad allergy seasons, don't know why.
