Little nervous

I am 35 and very lucky to have had 2 perfect babies via cesarean. I had very painful periods right from the start and they just kept getting worse. Finally at age 22 I decided to look into help with dealing with the pain. I was referred to an obgyn who decided to do laprascopic surgery to try and find the culprit. The results were crazy....I found out I have a didelphic uterus!! Meaning I have two fused uterus' and two cervix!?! Crazy...being built like this apparently poses problems with having children....this made me very upset. The dr said when you are ready to have children and if it takes more than a year to conceive, come back and we will deal with it. Long story short, I fell in love luckily had two healthy babies via cesarean, but worse periods than before....after many discussions with my hubbie about whether we want more kids or not I went back to my dr to get advice on helping me fix these terrible periods. We came to the conclusion of a full hystetectomy but keeping my ovaries. I sat on both sides of the fence for about 6 months and finally made the decision to do it and my surgery is in 3 days an I'm super nervous. Lots going through my mind!! Any help to ease the anxiety??

Re: Little nervous

Hi Hollyday, it is completely normal and understandable to be nervous and anxious. I had a TAH, keeping both ovaries 8 months ago. Best thing ever for me. Recovery for a TAH is 6-8 weeks. No that each person recovers differently and at a different pace.

Trust that your surgeon knows what he's dping and will perform the best job for you in your unique situation. Try to keep you mind occupied as not to focus too much on the surgery itself. I know that it's easier said than done. If you think the anxiety is overwhelming you, you can ask your doctor to prescribe something to help with it.

This site is an excellent source of support. I found it the day before my surgery. Go back into your profile, fill in your hysterectomy date and the type of surgery you are having. Also look at the hysterectomy checkpoints section. It has pre op and post op questions that you may find helpful and it also among other things gives you an idea of where you'll be at each stage of recovery. Kepp asking questions here. We are here for you.

I send my prayers to you for a successful surgery

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you

Re: Little nervous

Thank you so much!!! It's nice to know there are lots of women going through the same thing and to have the support. I had my surgery on Friday. It went very well....now I'm suffering from the horrible gas build up and can't expell any of it. Any tips?
