at 4 weeks returned to work full time. exhausted after 40 hours

Complete vaginal hysterectomy on may 30. All went well,..had some granulation at post op silver nitrate applied. I don't really understand what that means! My hormones replacement is now 2 Mg estradal. I worked last week. 8 hour days plus commute 45 mins. Each way. My job was not covered while off so back log plus current work. I supervise social workers. I did most computer work some walking no lifting..somewhat stressful...body hurt day 2. Insomnia I think from this menopause onset? But by 5 last night I was sobbing. Today cancelled all plans. Staying In the ac. Resting body. Trying to not feel sorry for myself while everyone bbq n swimming I'm watching movies n lounging in pj s. Son did grocery shopping. Yah! Need to let the body rest!

Oh my goodness, I personally think you need more down time. I am 4.5 weeks post op and can do grocery shopping with husband-he has the cart and I just point, then he puts it away. I'm very lucky. My work has been great....just heal! The other day we ate out, went by Home Depot and stopped by the travel agent...waaayy to much despite his driving. I was so tired and was lazy for a day and a half. Like the sisters say, take a break...don't overdo! I sure learned my lesson. I hope you are able to rest up some more!

I agree!! When you do do do, you must rest rest rest! I find that I do really good one day, busy going and blowing and then the next day - I'm couch bound! This week I have in-service on Wed, thurs and fri...I'm counting on being zonked each evening and plan to make up for the resting on the following weekend!

Re: at 4 weeks returned to work full time. exhausted after 40 hours

I will be 4 weeks post op on Monday and went back to work at 2 weeks. It has been a long road to haul and I am so tired when I come home. I just push myself to keep going. Life can get so busy I am glad you were able to take a day and just relax.

Re: at 4 weeks returned to work full time. exhausted after 40 hours

Thank u. I work come home exhausted and rest just so I can work. I feel cheated. My female gyn said go back my male boss says too soon. It's gonna b ok. It's not forever. I feel good other than sore back arms n tired. If I could get more time, off I would b happy. It's ok tho. Insomnia makes it hard. I sleep 3-4 hours up an few hours sleep another hour or two n up for work. I want to cry. I take 2 mg estradal doc said that's plenty. I'm 49 3 adult sons ....divorced ... my youngest son does my groceries thank god. He has pre surgery as I have menieres disease n shopping so hard. Yah. Hopefully I rested today. Did nothing. Laundry n cooked dinner barely! Pray next week is easier hopeful to see a movie tomorrow. Take care thanks for support

Re: at 4 weeks returned to work full time. exhausted after 40 hours

hope you're feeling better now, that's a lot to jump straight back into but i fully understand not really having a choice. If it helps I'm also lounging in my Pj's today lol. (and i'm pretty sure i had my first hot flush). my life begins to return to normal this week too fortunately i'll almost be 6 weeks and feeling rather able but far from 100%. and still suffering the worst insomnia.

rest when you get the chance too, make the most of your son while you can lol.

No HRT at this stage, hopefully it wont come to that for a while. I've always had sleep problems, but the insomnia is almost beyond the joke the last 4 weeks, one night i didn't go to sleep at all. My son just made me chamomile tea for tonight see if that help!
