Re: My UFE experience on 11-12-12.
Wow congrats on bouncing back so quickly. I have a feeling part of my problem stemmed from the uncontrollable fever I was running. You had yours 3 days after me so we are on about the same time frame. I'm having some minor cramping right now, and think it's probably due to an upcoming period. I'm anxious to see how this one will go.

Re: My UFE experience on 11-12-12.
Miranda, I have a feeling you'll be out. Some people just don't sedate as well as others. I'm pretty hard to sedate myself, but like i said, there's not much of the procedure that I remember. PS. I also have one that presses on my bladder, and one that messes with my bowels. I'm one of those who drinks a little water and I have to pee within 10 minutes. It's hard knowing it will be at least 3 months before we "know" how well it went.

Re: My UFE experience on 11-12-12.
Yes, I still have a little cramping right now and a little bit of pain down my leg. But not much more than regular period cramping.
And I hope I didn't freak anyone out about being so awake. I could have asked for more sedation. They were really clear about that. But once it all started happening and you realize that it doesn't hurt or feel bad, it just isn't scary. I had to admit I was a little uptight about the procedure...we all are. On the night before the procedure I saw a video of it being done. I guess that will either make you more or less nervous but for me it was super helpful.
If you have the right fibroids to have this done, I would certainly recommend starting with this. My other option was a hysterectomy but my mother had so many issues with incontinence afterwards, it wasn't for me.

Re: My UFE experience on 11-12-12.
Yes, my mom had a hystetectomy in 1985 , and she has been having many bladder issues over the last 10 years. I wonder if it is due to thw hysterectomy. I want to try to do some other treatment before hysterectomy. Unfortunately, I spend a lot of time urinating and dealing with back pain. I hope this works, otherwise I will look into laprascopic hysterectomy. Thanks so much for your input on your ufe experience. It makes me feel more prepared going into it.. Good luck and continued healing!

Re: My UFE experience on 11-12-12.
I had a UFE on 11/26, and my experience was very positive. I, too, had issues with cramping and not pooping for a few days, but after 2 days, I called my doc and the nurses told me to take Milk of magnesia which pretty much took care of the gas and no poop issues in a few hours - what a difference. I had several fibroids, but the largest one was only 6 cm. I'm pretty thin (runner), so I actually could feel that one and I had a low one pressing on my bladder which was a pain. I have not taken any pain killers today and I feel great. I even walked 1.5 miles with the dog.
My best advice from the doctor was to get in the best shape that I could prior to surgery and boy do I think that helped. I think that I will be running by weeks end.

Yay! I love getting all of these first-hand accounts of all of your experiences. I feel better going into the procedure. Today I have been experiencing a lot of pelvic, back, and urinary pain so I know I have got to do this, or it is going to get worse. Good luck ladies, and please post how you are doing from time to time. Good luck and continued healing!

Re: My UFE experience on 11-12-12.
Hi,
I have my UFE scheduled for 8/7/13 and I really appreciate all the info from Everyone! I am really nervous especially since the DR wants to give me an epidural and I am very afraid of an epidural. No I have not children. I am 51 and I believe I can handle the pain and cramping. I am just annoyed with my Dr's nurse because he does not return my call just emails me. I am very nervous about what will happen if I need to speak to the dr or if I have an urgent matter! I don't do ER's (unless it is life threatening)because the last time I went I got a very wrong diagnosis!
I have asked for a strong Antibiotic because I looked up the one they would like to give me and it is very weak! I know my body pretty well and know that I have had antibiotics that were weak and then had to spend more $$$ on new meds.
Sorry for the long post I am pretty nervous! My fibroid is located on the outside of my uterus and is 15cm and there are other smaller ones. My Gyno says this is good because those shrink better.
Thanks
