Re: Severe pain and pressure

I am in day 3, I feel you! It's so painful. My dr made it sound super simple and it isn't so painful. Heating pad has helped me tremendously & the belly band. The combo from the pressure and heat eliminates some of the pain. Walk as soon as your pain med kicks in to get the air moving. Hot tea or soup or any hot helps with the bowels. Hang in there! This too shall pass :-)

Re: Severe pain and pressure

All I wanted in the free world my first week post-op was to have a normal BM!!! I hear you! Unfortunately, the pain pills contribute to the constipation. Drink plenty of water. Check with your Dr. about adding Extra Strength Tylenol in between your regular pain meds to "stay on top of the pain"

Re: Severe pain and pressure

Hi, Clanori! My hysterectomy was on the 21st and I have NEVER experienced pain like I have with this surgery. I had my babies naturally and that didn't compare to the pain and pressure I've had after this surgery! Anyway, are you taking anything for gas? Simethicone is what I have been taking and it has helped a lot with the pain. You can get it over the counter. Also as far as having a bm I haven't done that either. I've been taking a probiotic and miralax along with drinking lots of water and eating plenty of fruit to help make it a little easier when that time comes. Good luck with everything!

Re: Severe pain and pressure

Hi sistas, take stool softeners 2-3 times a day. Stay away from anything that bins you especially bananas and bread. Eat soft fruit (raspberries, melon) and soft veggies (broccoli, carrots). Drink lots of water, no bubbly drinks. I had the sames issues. Do not take laxatives or your cramps will be worse.

Good luck, the first week is the hardest.

(((hugs)))

Re: Severe pain and pressure

Ditto from above. Drink plenty of fluids. Warm prune juice helped me. Get up and move around. Walk in the driveway, around the house. Get the gas moving.
Once my bowels woke up (day4) I was feeling so much better.
I'm 3 weeks post op and doing great!!

Re: Severe pain and pressure

Hi ladies! I started taking Metamucil in OJ in the morning, lots of fruits and veggies have really helped with normal BM and lessening the gas pains. I was taking Miralax the first few days and the gas pains and pressure were pretty bad. Gas X helps too. My problem now seems to be if I sit up for too long I get a tremendous pressure on my anal/vaginal area that is very uncomfortable. Experience some incontinence yesterday too! Waiting for the nurse to call me back as I type. Pain levels are at a minimum the last two days. Fingers crossed things are healing nicely. Just remember, rest, rest, rest as much as possible. :-)

Re: Severe pain and pressure

I too pressure/pain from sitting. I could not sit on a hard chair for the first 10 days or so. It was as though I has a tennis ball in my vagina. If I reclined on the couch and stayed off my feet ( between my walking for my gas pains ) this helped tremendously. I don't remember when this went away but I was told with the uterus being removed vaginally and whatnot there is trauma down there. Being 3 weeks post op I find hard chairs/benches still uncomfortable (I was at a picnic this weekend). I plan my day to have recline and rest periods
Good you are calling your doctor. Best to get your answers answered. 😎
You are right... Rest rest rest

Re: Severe pain and pressure

Still in pain & had to call in a refill for my pain meds. I hope he approves it because I'm day 5 post op and with the pain meds in me I feel okay. My incisions aren't leaking too bad. The worst was def last night I got diarrhea and that was terrible! Any other sisters need refills on their meds??
