TVH: Total lap hysterectomy changed to total vaginal hysterectomy with sling...not a happy preop visit

So I had my preop visit today and was not prepared for a vaginal exam with pap. I was sweaty and felt disgusting from a very busy day, hadn't shaved in a week and a half, and I had stinky feet. I was so embarrassed and apologized from the beginning. Normally, I run a clean ship. My doctor told me she didn't give a crap about that kind of thing and I told her I didn't know I'd need a pap since my cervix is coming out anyway. She also said my uterus is small and descended and said she could do the hysterectomy vaginally and not worry about laparoscopic. I also decided to get a bladder sling since I can't cough, sneeze or laugh without peeing.

I would have felt the exact same way as you. When my visit comes up everything is clean, shaved and smelling good. I even rub a light scented lotion on my very clean socks so they smell nice. Yes Dr's don't mind but we as patients sure do, at least the majority of us. Try not to worry about it, she probably forgot it the second you left and my bet she has seen and smelled worse. Whats even worse is my Dr is my age and he is so good looking. So I make double sure I go in as clean as possible.

Thanks. I work with her when she operates, so I see her a lot. I just hated that I wasn't prepared. I should have gotten off work in time to clean up, but as usual was caught in a case and couldn't leave. It's just, well, ugh. Lol
