Devastated And Enraged!
It sounds as though you live near to me. I would be glad to email you with my GYN's name. Every single nurse I had in the hospital goes to her (it was comical - I mean every last one!) AND she can do the LSH in most cases (much less invasive). Feel free to email me or PM me. Only catch is she might not be taking new patients but I suspect given the circumstances, she might be willing to help regardless.

Devastated And Enraged!
Some doctors really shouldn't be doctors, it's frightening to know how many incompetent morons are out there. The first thing I would do is request a copy of all your records from the doctors office. Copies of tests, etc. Tell them you'll be by today to pick them up. I don't know how big or small your town is, but ask around and find a doctor others recommend.
I suffered for years with irregular periods, I always blamed it on my weight. I was stupid and at 33 had never seen a gyn. Finally the bleeding became too severe and I couldn't function any longer so I went to see my sisters gyn. He first sent me for a sonogram, they couldn't see anything so they sent me for an MRI. That showed a large mass, so he scheduled a D&C & uterine biopsy. Mind you, I never saw any HIPPA forms to fill out, had never even heard of it. My sister brought me for the D&C. After the procedure he went and spoke to her about my condition. He said he didn't do the D&C because he was afraid I'd hemmorage, but that he did do the biopsy and he believed I had cancer and a 50/50 chance of living. He never spoke to me. She was afraid to tell me. I went 2 weeks believing that I had a D&C. I went for my follow up and found out that the tissue was necrotic (good news, but not knowing the bad news before I wasn't too ecstatic about it) but that he wanted me to see a gyn/onc before doing a hyst. I cried and told him I couldn't go on like this any more, I hadn't worked in 2 months and I couldn't function. He said he'd get me in right away with the onc. Well, the woman was on vacation so right away turned into another 3 weeks. My sister then told me what he had previously told her about the cancer. I was FURIOUS with both of them, he should have spoken to me not her and she should have told me. I made an apt for a second opinion with a doc who came highly recommended. The Monday before that apt I was so sick that my sisters rushed me to the hospital. The doctors and nurses couldn't believe that this man had let me go for so long suffering the way I had been. It turned out the doc I was supposed to see that Friday for the second opinion was on duty, so he became my new doc. Best move I ever made. He was able to remove my fibroid and stop the bleeding. I did need a hyst because the path on the fibroid came back as cancer. The key here though was that I completely trusted, and still do trust, this man compared to the other doc who allowed me to suffer without giving me so much as a single treatment to try and stop the bleeding. Everyone said I should have sued him, but I didn't have the energy and now I'm just happy to be alive. I'd like to spit in his eye though if I ever run into him. <g>
Best of luck in finding a new doctor. I know how frustrating it is when you don't trust your doc. You NEED to feel comfortable with your doctor and they need to be comfortable with you as well. Sounds like this man wasn't comfortable with you, which is just totally ridiculous.
Keep us updated on what happens next!

First of all, I want to say how sorry I am that you are in such a turmoil. It isn't fair! Now, I will tell you why I believe the Dr. cancelled on you. He's afraid of a lawsuit. The fact that he mentioned that your dad wanted to tape him tells me that he believes you are preparing for a lawsuit if things don't go as you hope for. Doctors have become gun-shy of performing "unnecessary" hysterectomies. There was a time when the hysterectomy was the most popular surgical proceedure....a real money maker for the doctors. However, after multiple lawsuits and government intervention, the doctors are having to take a different view of performing this surgery. They want to make darn sure that the surgery is absolutely necessary. After I brought it up that I wanted a hysterectomy, my GYN asked ME several questions as to WHY I wanted this. She was covering her butt, making sure there was a valid reason for the surgery, before she would commit to it.
I am certain that your doctor is afraid to perform the hysterectomy on you due to your age and the fact that you asked a lot of questions and wanted to tape the visit. He thinks you're setting him up for a big lawsuit. (even though we know you aren't!) Please change doctors NOW and get this taken care of ASAP! My heart goes out to you, and I hope you can find a sympathetic Dr. very soon! (((HUGS)))

Gosh, I cant believe your doctor. I agree with the other sisters here.....GET A NEW ONE !!!!! My doctor tried 4 different procedures to correct my problem but it didnt. After the secomd procedure, I asked him about a hysterectomy but he felt I was too young and I thought about having one more child. It is your body!!!!!!! For goodness sakes he could have called BEFORE the night before to cancel. How unprofessional. I wouldnt want him doing anything to me. Find someone else sister. Good luck and I hope you get this resolved to your benefit.

The Latest Update
Sisters,
Thanks so much for your input. You all have said nothing that I haven't mulled over in my mind at least a thousand times in the past two days. Today was especially difficult to get through since it was SUPPOSED TO BE my surgery day, but I dealt as best I could. The latest and greatest is that the coordinator at my doctor's office that handles the referrals telephoned me this afternoon and said that she has forwarded my paperwork from the dork doctor to the referral doctor at Chapel Hill. She said that she would call Chapel Hill at 10 am EST tomorrow morning to see if he had gotten the chance to look things over and decide if he would, get this, ACCEPT THE APPOINTMENT! As if yesterday wasn't enough, and the icing on the cake you ask? She said, Ms. Turner, it is highly probable that the doctor at Chapel Hill will want to telephone doctor ***** to confer with him about your case. I just feel like I will run in circle with this doctor too because he will be tied to closely to the first dr. I don't know. I guess I will try things out and see. Oh, and I should add that the Lupron is wearing off again, and the pain has begun to intensify. Probably will begin bleeding by Friday. Is there any justice ladies? I'll keep you posted, and thanks again for your support. I truly appreciate it.

Don't forget to ask for copies of ALL your medical records, including test results, etc. When I had problems with my crappy doc I found it best to not even see the doc he was referring me to, because if I couldn't trust him I couldn't trust his referral.
Best of luck!!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I too would have been devastated if it had happened to me. But like you, I agree that things happen for a reason and maybe it's for the best. I know that is hard to cope with now but maybe something far worse would have happened had you proceeded. My heart just breaks for you. He never should have allowed it to get this far into the prep before making up his mind.
On the other hand..and this isn't aimed toward you in any way..and I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion but...... doctors wouldn't have to be afraid if people weren't so sue happy these days. Just my opinion.
Again...let me say, I am so sorry this happened to you.

This is how I feel after reading your post: :burning: :burning:
I am SO MAD! I think this Doc is a total !!!
Please get another Doc who is NOT associated with this one. I found my doc through the Endometriosis Assoc. and he is wonderful. Best wishes to you and let us know how things work out. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Devastated And Enraged!
First let me say that I am so sorry that you are going though this I to had alot of problems with my first doctor he was rude uncaring and would not even consider doing my surgery so I went for another year in constant pain until I found another doctor that said I had to have it done however he could not do it but did give me a referral I have had to go though alot to get it done but I will be having it done in aug. Please see another doctor all togther and I would not pay for the pre op with out the operation. Hang in there hun find you a good doctor and let them know that hey I have been in enough pain and I am not leaving this office until I get a surgery date and have this done if need be sign a paper stating that you will not sue them years from now because they did the surgery. But do not sign one stating that youw ill not sue them if they mess you up. hang in there you are in my thought and prayers.
