Check up yesterday showed no UTI but slightly elevated white blood cells. Anybody had this or know how long this might last, or anything that could help with the pain?
I had same experience after my surgery. Same Urine Test results. It is a little better now. I drink only water took out coffee tea and soda! Also AZO over the counter helps a lot with the pain.

Re: 12 days post op, painful urination, normal???

These posts are right on time for me. I'm 2 weeks post op and my only complaint was a painful urination (towards the end of my flow). Doc tested my urine, and didn't find an infection, but noticed a lite blood in my urine. Was instructed to take Azo, although no infection is present (??), and after a week if nothing changes call the doc back and they'll give me an antibiotic. Maybe I caught the infection early, and it's not present in the urine stream yet..or perhaps these are just preventative measures. Either way, I'm heading to the drug store for Azo. Thank you so much ladies for your candor about this topic..so informative and much needed!!!

Re: 12 days post op, painful urination, normal???

KaySD if you don't have relief in a few days I would go ahead and call your doc back, a UTI can go from bad to worse quickly. I was told with the initial urine test they didn't think I had infection, but that my white blood cell count was a little high so they would go ahead and send it to be cultured. Three days later I get a call that I actually do have a UTI, so my gut feeling was right, we know our bodies. Good luck, hope you are feeling better soon.
