Re: 16 days post TAH

I only walked around the house for the first two weeks. The longer you can rest without lots of exertion the faster you will heal. Don't be in any hurry.

Re: 16 days post TAH

My dr said I should be able to walk a mile by the first week. I did a little more walking each day and reached the goal fairly easily. Walking is good for you, and the swelling afterwards is normal, will go away with time.

I am wearing a fit bit flex which I have been doing 3000 steps a day but yesterday was 6000 with the long walk and I think I will hold off doing it all at once and be kinder to myself!

Re: 16 days post TAH

Sounds like you overdid it if your body responded that way. Everyone is different, so you'll have to gauge based on how you feel. Lots of short walks through the day may be more helpful right now. I also found that avoiding hills is really important. Even now at nearly 9 weeks I'm cautious about steep hills because they can become too much pretty quickly and I'll pay for it later and into the next day.
