Upcoming hysterectomy 10/6: gas with daVinci procedure

Those of u who have had a hysterectomy using the da Vinci how does the gas they use to expand belly feel after surgery

I really didn't have an issue with it. I had lots of little burps. I had heard about the shoulder pain, but didn't experience it at all. I did take gas-x starting the morning after surgery - I don't know if that helped.

I had a good bit and it felt like a bomb going off internally but also great at the same time... Gas X and walking helps!!!

I remember the gas pain very well! I had excruciating pain in my right shoulder, and for a few days, I had difficulty sleeping, because I couldn't get comfortable. What worked to get it out were peppermint tea and taking regular walks. So don't worry about it that much; you should get it out within a few days. Best wishes for your surgery and recovery!

I had no shoulder pain at all. Some intestinal gas, but I also had diarreah which I think was from the antibiotics. my surgeon said they try to remove as much as they can before the close the incisions.

Thank u for responding. I'm getting really nervous how long was your surgery?

The intestinal pain and CO2 pain are entirely different. Gas X won't help with the CO2 pain. Talk to your doctor and see if he expels as much as possible before pulling the instruments out - like letting air out through a valve stem. Mine does and I had none at all.
