Hi Amanda, and

We're happy you joined the Hystersisters community! I think it's fair to say almost all of us were scared, to some extent, while awaiting our surgery date. We have a special feature on the site, Checkpoints that was designed to accompany you through the entire "hysterectomy experience" from start to finish...and beyond. Please "do yourself a favor" and enroll in Checkpoints now!

Women react to surgery differently, because of various factors including their age, overall health, type of surgery and reason for their hysterectomy. If you gave us a little more information about your condition, members with similar circumstances would be able to share their experience with you.

Many s and Best Wishes,

Amanda,
We have the same surgery date. What kind of surgery are you having? I'm not really good with all the acronyms, but my doctor is planning on doing my hyterectomy vaginally and it looks like I can keep my ovaries. This is my second bout of fibroids and I'm ready to not be in pain any more and get back to a normal life.

Hi, there!

Here's another great place to visit at Hyster Sisters. The Tell Your Hyst-Story subforum of this pre-op support board offers all sorts of castle stories. Women write their "stories", including what led up to their decision to have surgery, the actual hospital experience, and their early recovery times. No, not all of the stories are all sweetness and light -- but they're not written to scare you. They are there so that you'll be prepared for what might happen. I have to admit that I found myself nearly addicted to those stories in the weeks before my surgery!

We're so glad you've found us. We're here for you whenever you need us.

amanda, when I first found out I would be having a hyst, I was afraid too. Then I found the hystersisters website, and each day I feel less scared. Everyone is here for each other, the support is tremendous. You will learn so much.
Take care, LL
