Terrified of intercourse- 6 wks Post-Op TVAH, cystocele, rectocele, and much more!
I am on week 6 of a tough recovery. I have had two infections, a continuous fever for the past 3 weeks and now high blood pressure. I know the doc will not clear me w regards to intercourse for a few more weeks but my anxiety is building up around this topic. My husband is counting the days!! Any suggestions?

You could tell him what I told my husband: Imaging having your ballsack and testes removed through your penis.
That shut him up. Luckily mine is heading to a new job 2000 miles away for the first 3 months of my recover. I hope to get back on the horse all by myself. I am 6 days post op and had an excellent sex life prior to this. Now - I don't care how long I go without sex. This hurts! More than I expected

You do not have to do anything until you are ready to. Your hubby will be fine for as long as it takes. At 6 weeks my release date got extended to 8 weeks. We waited until 11 weeks because I wanted to make sure I was emotionally ready also. I was glad I waited & everything went just fine. Just take it slow & do not expect perfection the first few times. You will be nervous & it is better when you relax. Best wishes to you!

I am also nervous about having sex for the first time after my surgery. I had my 6 week check up today, and he told me to wait another 2 weeks. Hubby says we will wait 3 weeks to make sure. I am so nervous about it hurting so bad. I hope it doesn't hurt as bad as I am thinking it will.

Wait as long as you feel a need to and don't let him pressure you into sex before you're ready!! I had sex at 8 wks because I got the okay from my Dr. and I really should have listened to my instincts and waited, because it was just too soon for me. For whatever reason, I hurt terribly and it's been 3 mths., and I still don't feel right. Now it's taking longer to feel better. You know your body and whether or not you're ready. Take your time & take care of yourself.

LOL Kelster , I told my husband the exact same thing , he has this bad habit of parking 45,000 miles from the front door of places , I said to him the other day , " you don't like me do you?" He said "why"? I said because you are parking in the lower 40 and thats way to far , He says well the doctor told you to walk..that honkerblonked me right off , I said Imagine your ball sack being sliced open and your testicles being ground up and sucked out then steri stripped back shut , then you walk from there to here , I AM NOT WALKING..LOL..He drops me at the door everywhere we go now..HAHAHAHAH!!! I am scared to death to have sex for the first time , I am going to wait till atleast 8 weeks clearance or not..just because a couple of extra weeks would make me more confident I think..I will NOT rush back in to the saddle! I want to make sure the horse is in good working order first..:-)

I will share the info that my Dr. gave me when I was finally cleared for sex. Sorry if this will be TMI for you. He told me that I should be on top so that I could control things. Also that I may want to have some KY on hand just in case. It was about 10 weeks after surgery and everything was fine. Absolutely no pain and believe me I was worried.

Re: Terrified of intercourse- 6 wks Post-Op TVAH, cystocele, rectocele, and much more
I am almost 8 months (yes that's months) post op and was told to wait until 8 weeks at a 5 week appointment. Even at 8 weeks DH was scared of hurting me. I am not trying to discourage anyone, but remember that everyone is different and you're allowed to take this at your own pace. We went slow as I had some pain. I used someone's suggestion of using a toy and seeing if that helped when I was alone. No pain with a toy, but still had some pain with DH. Frustrating! I found there were some positions that were better than others and it's a matter of patience. I was getting anxiety because I had yet to achieve the "Big O" and was 7+ months out. It FINALLY happened and let me tell you that it was so worth the wait! It was better than before and while I was the one that was frustrated and I don't think DH always understood why, time does help if you're scared and not ready. I know men get anxious, but they haven't gone through what we have.
