rectocele repair

Hi,

I was just wondering if someone could tell me how a rectocele repair is done?
I will ask my doctor when I see her for pre-op, but that's four weeks away.

rectocele repair

I'm 2 weeks post rectocele and TVH. My doctor explained that the wall between the vagina and rectum was so thin, that a pocket had formed keeping anything from being pushed out as it shoudl have been. He took sides of the rectum and built up the wall, reinforcing the wall. It is very interesting. It feels like the shape of the rectum has changed! I feel much more gas before having a bowle movement. I was afraid of the first one but it was not that bad. I am on stool sofrtener and everyhing is coming out fine. He wants me to be very loose for at least 3 weeks. I will say a donut pillow might be a good thing after the first week. I was laying down pretty much first week, but sitting is not easy yet. However I'm no longer having to go through gyrations to get anything out, only if you need rectocele would you understand that one!

Good luck. I'm very happy with this. My doctor had much experience with it. I would make sure you have someone with you up to the point of the first BM as it is kind of scarey but everything will work out fine!

Good luck!

rectocele repair

Hi Theresa I had my hyst for fibroids and rectocele repair.

All the doctor explained was that he would do an incision in the vagina, lift the rectum back in its place and reinforce the pelvic floor.

When I woke up after my TVH, the only pain I felt, and it wasn't that bad at all, was from the stiches in the perineum. That pain and tenderness remained for about two weeks. I found that using a peri bottle, like the ones used after giving birth, filled with lukewarm water, helped tremendously. I had to ask for one, though, since I was on the post-surgery floor, not the ob/gyn floor. Just so you keep it in mind for your visit to the castle.

Just like Marion, I made sure that my diet included a lot of fibers and prune juice after my surgery, since I was under strict orders "not to strain". I found that walking and drinking water helped tremendously.

If you do a "search" on "rectocele" and "prolapse" you will notice that this subject comes back quite often.

Hope this helps.
