Adeno-Pre-Op Help!

Hi! My first post! <3

So, I am scheduled for my hyst. Dec 18th for suspected adenomyosis/endometriosis.

Symptoms for me are urinary frequency, unable to urinate completely. Feeling of pressure in vaginal walls and pelvis, pressure so bad I want to cry. Severe bleeding during period and between periods. Weight gain. GIven the "boggy uterus" speech after an US. Does this all sound like adeno to folks who have been diagnosed post op? I am so terrified there is something else wrong and surgery will not help.

Getting down to the wire and ready to feel better. Another question. What can I do in the meantime to alleviate this discomfort? Recently I am having a harder time functioning daily with the pressure/pain and I just need to get through these next two weeks.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Adeno-Pre-Op Help!

Hey Fawkes511! I had my daVinci/Vaginal hysterectomy (kept my ovaries only) 2-1/2 weeks ago. My doctor took a pic of my uterus and it looked just like an inflated balloon, ready to pop! She said it was definitely "diseased" with extensive endometriosis and adenomyosis, as well as one of my fallopian tubes had a fibroid and a cyst within it. So no doubt, I did the right thing by having the surgery! I am 49 and have been having painful periods forever. But what prompted me to have the surgery was the fact I've been bleeding nonstop both vaginally & rectally for the past 6 months and became severely anemic. As far as the pressure you mention, the only time I had pressure was when I ovulated, known as Mittelschmirz...extreme rectal pressure, which Motrin helped a lot. Good luck to you!!

Re: Adeno-Pre-Op Help!

It does sound like adeno to me, however I had it but my uterus was small not boggy. I did have the symptoms you describe. Hysterectomy is a cure for adeno. Is there any other reason they suspect endometriosis? It can only be diagnosed by a surgery. Hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis. If any is left behind on the bowel, bladder, body cavity, it can still cause pain after hysterectomy. If you know you have endo you should seek out an endo specialist who can excise the endo. I had no idea I had it until my hysterectomy that I had endo, and I was lucky my gyn/onc knew how to excise it and had the skills to do so - many doctors just don't have the training or resources. I hope you find the answers you need and feel better soon.
