Planning for your Post-Op Meals

Hi Ladies ~ !

I am 5 days post op, and starting yesterday......I am having meals delivered to my home (M-F) for three weeks.

There is an amazing meal planning website called Care Calendar that I want to share with you. I have used it for several years for many friends/family who have needed meals brought in to their home. It is a free service.

Here is how it works:

1. A friend/family asks you how they can help you as you prepare to have surgery.

2. Tell your friend that it would be good to have meals brought to your family and that you know a good website that makes the entire process easy.

3. You get to decide when you want the meals to start, how often you want the meals brought in, what foods you like, what foods you don't care for, when is your typical dinner time, etc.....

4. You provide your friend with a name/email address of 2-3 key contact people in the areas of your life. ie: work, family, church

5. Your friend sets up your Care Calendar. She then emails the Calendar Code/Security Code to your key contact people and these people distribute your specific Care Calendar link to people that you know in the different areas of your life.

6. People receive the email link. They see your meal needs. They sign up to bring a meal. They receive an email notification immediately, confirming that they have signed up for the meal. They also receive an email reminder a couple of days prior to the date they are assigned to bring the meal.

7. The program is very organized. Takes only a short time to set up. It keeps itself organized. People really do want to help you. This gives them some flexibility to look at the calendar and see when it is convenient for them to help you.

8. You have your own access to your Care Calendar. You can always go on there and adjust anything, as needed. ie: you can add meals, delete meals, change the meal time, etc....

This Calendar is also used for periods of time when families are dealing with death or illness. All types of items can be organized on the calendar. Some people need assistance getting to a Dr's appt. Some need help with driving their children to school. Housekeeping, lawn mowing, etc.....

One final note: When you allow someone the opportunity to bring you a meal, you are giving them the opportunity to be blessed. People will feel really, really good when they get to come to your home and drop off your meal. They really do want to help. Allow them to help you!
