Recovery: Abdominal myomectomy v. TAH

I had a myomectomy for large fibroid five years ago, bikini cut, 4-6 weeks off. Am wondering if recovery w/TAH is pretty similar, but for the emotional, hormonal and psychological aspects. I assume w/more internal stitches it could make a difference. Recovery last time wasn't bad, once I figured out how to get in and out of bed. I was walking 2-3 miles a day at beginning of week 3. But I was 37 then and am 42 now (though in better shape). Anyone out there had both procedures and can compare their experiences? Additionally, YIKES! Setting the date sure changes things. I was "fine" until the date got set. Now I am on verge of tears almost constantly. Trying to exercise and keep busy. Husband trying to figure out how to help. I tell him to hug me and just be patient. Wish it (TAH, losing cervix, keeping ovaries) were tomorrow and not a month off. Sort of.

I have not had a myo, but had the TAH at age 43. I was able to walk 3 miles at the beginning of week 3, so if you are in good condition, and no complications, I would think you would be capable of the same. My recovery was easy- I wish the same for you. You might want to ask your doctor if he has any limits on walking- mine did not.
