Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
I was talking about the laparoscopic surgery where they don't have to remove the uterous through the vagina when they do the hysterectomy. Not many doctors do it this way. It is suppose to have a quicker recovery then the regular laparoscopic surgery.

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
Here is the list of abbreviations and what they mean for the different types of surgery people discuss on the site. If you do a search, you will find threads on them with lots of ladies responses. Lots of women have had these different types and will tell you about their type.
I hope this helps-maybe if you change your title of your post you will get the responses and information you need. I had a TAH/BSO so I am not able to tell you much else about different types.
TAH--Total Abdominal Hysterectomy----Removal of uterus including the cervix
TAH BSO--Total Abdominal Hysterectomy- Bilateral Salpingoopherectomy---Removal of uterus and both tubes and ovaries.
LAVH--Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy---Vaginal Hysterectomy with visualization and resection of the uterine ligaments through a scope inserted through or near the umbillicus. The uterus is then delivered through the vagina.
TVH-- Total Vaginal Hysterectomy ---removal of uterus and cervix through the vagina
SAH--Subtotal Abdominal Hysterectomy--removal of uterus through an abd. incision leaving the cervix intact
SAH--Supracervical Abdominal Hysterectomy---same as above
LSH--Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy---Hysterectomy done totally from laparoscope, leaving cervix in place.
Lap Hyster---same as LAVH
TVH---Vaginal hyster
LAVH---Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
TVH-BSO --removal of uterus and both tubes and ovaries thru the vagina --------

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
Hi!
While LSH is a relatively new procedure there have been several members who have had it. If you click on the search button, then type in LSH* (the search needs at least 4 letters) you will get a list of threads that mention LSH.
You can also go to "Princesses Tell Their Stories" and find some there.
Hope this helps!
Best wishes.

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
Hi Christina,
I had a LSH six months ago to remove two large fibroids. Kept my ovaries and cervix.
My LSH surgery was done through two small hip incisions and a belly button incision.
I am very happy with my surgery results.

Undecided about Cervix removal
I too have having LSH surgery soon, My concern is whether I should have my Cervix removed as well..........I have read many stories about cycles if the Cervix is not removed, my dr. has informed me as well. If I have a Hyst I surely don't want to have anymore cycles. My dr. said that if he were to remove my Cervix it would have to be done vaginally.
I've read that some women who have their Cervix removed develop prolapse. Has anyone had LSH and what were your results?
Please help a woman in need of information.
THANKS
CHUBBS

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
Christina --
You are in luck!! I am one week post op LSH, kept ovaries & cervix. I am so, so glad I did this surgery. A lot of pain for the first few days, but I'm am improving each day. So ask away about LSH & Historylady (a mentor of mine who helped me enormously in pre-op) and I will be happy to answer.
Oh, and unlike Historylady, I actually had five little incisions -- 2 on each side of the belly & one in the belly button.

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
Thanks for the response........
Have you been informed about potential bleeding by not having your Cervix removed or potential vaginal prolapse?
On a scale of 1-10 how would you describe the pain the first week? I ask this because my tolerance for pain is zero.
I know it's only been a week since your surgery but have you had any complications thus far?
THANKS

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (LSH)
Hi chubbs;
I am having my LSH next Wednesday, going in for my pre-op tommorow morning. Keeping my ovaries and cervix. A big factor (for me)in decided to move forward with surgery instead of pain management was waiting will allowing time for fibroids to get larger and then not being able to do LSH. I have questions about my cervix as well and plan to ask the doc tommorow. I will keep you updated.
