Swelly Belly With Tvh???

To all those sisters out there who have had TVH/A & P repairs:

Do you get Swelly Belly with a TVH? I thought you only got that with TAH? With TVH/A&P repairs/Bladder Hitch what is the recovery like?

Thanks,

Lisa

Swelly Belly With Tvh???

I only had a TVH, but I still suffer from the swelly belly!!! I am almost 3 weeks post-op and at times, it gets unbearable!!!!(I look as if I'm about 9 1/2 months pregnant)
Many of the other sisters have said it does go away after awhile.I guess we just need to be patient and wait for that to happen

Swelly Belly With Tvh???

I had a LAVH and although it isn't just horrible (meaning I am not 2 or 3 sizes bigger than I should be), I too have the swelly belly which makes my clothes not fit properly and makes me self conscious. I was told by my doctor that the more you get up and move around the worse it will be but this will pass in time.

A friend of mine said she was doing fine with the swelly belly until she went back to work then it just ballooned up. (she had a TVH) Her word of advice was when you are up and about alot to make sure you drink alot of water and put your feet up when you can because that helps it go down some.

Swelly Belly With Tvh???

Typically there is swelling with any type of hysterectomy - when organs are removed and the body suffers trauma it needs time to heal. The amount of swelling and how long it lasts can vayr.

Swelly Belly With Tvh???

HI, I also had a tvh, on 3-30-05. I didnt experience much swelly belly until i went back to work at 2 weeks. Even though I only work about 5 hours a day so far the 45minute drive each way seemed to cause most of the swelling. It seems to get better each day but hey, while I have it I use it as an excuse to lay down. I tell dh and the boys, "sorry Im swelling up again, I have to lay down.".. and they let me without any whining. ( i guess the only good thing about it)

Just remember to take it easy and rest when you can, my tummy tells me when I have done too much.

Swelly Belly With Tvh???

I had TVH with repairs last week and also have swelly belly. I find it doesn't much matter what I do though. I'm just as swollen in the morning as in the evening, although the belly feels "harder" in the evening. I also find my belly is sensitive to touch so anything pressing against it is uncomfortable. I read about women wearing support panties afterwards and it makes me cringe.
