What's involved in the post op appt.?

Can anyone tell me what is involved in the post op appointment? Mine is tomorrow. I am just wondering, if my cervix was removed will an internal exam be done? I can' t even imagine that. Also, one of my incisions is now hot and red. It looks like a red ring around the cut. I also have internal pain now in that area. (Just alittle above the incision) This pain is new. I am 2 weeks post op. Should I wait for the appointment tomorrow, or do something tonight? I am worried it is infected.
Any info is appreciated!

Re: What's involved in the post op appt.?

I just had my 2 week appt on Monday. They took my weight and blood pressure. The dr came in had my lie down, looked at the incision, and took off the steri strips. She said all was looking good and that she didn't need to see me until next year.... unless something came up. :-)

Re: What's involved in the post op appt.?

I went to my 1st post-op last Wed. My doc looked at my incision. Then asked me if I had any questions....which I did! We talked for about 10 mins. I have an appt. in 4 weeks. I also have a lump she wants to keep an eye on.

Gettnwell...as for the new pain. You will have new pains every other day or so....in different spots of the incision as well as the belly.

Take Care! and remember....rest, rest, rest!!

Re: What's involved in the post op appt.?

I had re-checks at 2 wks, 4 wks, and 6 wks.
At 2 wks the staples were removed and the incision was checked.
At 4 wks she checked the incision and did a gentle internal.
At 6 wks I had an internal and was released to resume normal activities.
My incision was bothersome in the pubic region (sorry if TMI) due to the fact the staples sat in an area where the skin tissue is thinner. It felt like it was right on my bone.
All looks good now and 7 months post op.

Thank you all for the info. Now I can rest easy tonight!

Twtyfire-I'm glad you mentioned to expect different pains in different areas...good to know that that is normal.

Re: What's involved in the post op appt.?

I had an appt. just yesterday (4 weeks post-op LAVH). Dr. did an internal exam - first used the speculum (not sure if that's right, but it's the same thing they use when doing a pap), then inserted fingers and felt around. when using the speculum it was a little uncomfortable, but I was like you, I was really nervous and I didn't know what to expect. I also had a visit just 1 week after the procedure. at that time, he just basically looked at the incision on my belly and felt my belly. i go back in 4 weeks. Hope all goes well!

Re: What's involved in the post op appt.?

I don't think I have staples. I had a lavh and have three small, I mean small holes that were sealed with what looks and feels like super glue,so I have no idea what my appointment will be like.
