pre-op

Had my pre-op with my gp yesterday. Everything went good as far as the surgury for the 12th. At the end of my appointment, he tells me they found a nodule on my pancreas on the CT scan they did on Dec. 17th. On March 26th I need to have another CT scan to check it out more. He likened it to a mole on the skin, just wants to check into it more.
I came home in tears..can't tell my DH, he is already so worried, I think it would push him over the edge.
I went to see my gyn today to ask him some questions about the surgury, and I told him about the CT scan findings and he said not to worry about it..if the other dr. thought it was anything really serious he would have had me follow up sooner with it.
The positive is I do not need to do any bowel prep before my surgury I will be in the hospital until the 14th.
I just want to have my life back.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Summersday, it sounds like you had an overwhelming day. What may look like something not to worry much over to a doctor, feels huge to us on the receiving end. Mitterpie is right, take it one day at a time, one step at a time. Please keep us posted. Hope all goes well with your surgery and you have a speedy recovery! HUGE HUGS

pre-op

Hey summersday, it sounds like your pre-op was the same kind of "eventful" that mine was. I went yesterday and during the exam my gyn found a lump in my breast.... yikes! I had to go in today for a mammo and ultrasound. I was scareder about that than surgery on thursday! Thankfully today I was told the lump is just a cyst that's going nuts because of the lack of specific ovation or whatever and so it gets irritated, fills with fluid then calms back down for a bit. The doctor told me if I end up having both ovaries removed, that thing wo'nt be bothering me again, but if not, then I may see it come back on occasion. I had tears in my eyes when they told me it was nothing, so I completely understand your panic. But if they're putting off a follow up on it til March, I'd say it probably is something more like a spot to watch and not something hugely scary and needing to be taken care of.... but you know what? Honoring your fears and asking questions is part of taking care of yourself, so if you don't feel you can share this added worry with your DH, then ask the docs, and maybe ask them what makes them okay with waiting so long to check into it.... maybe knowing the why behind their not acting would help to settle your feelings about it a bit.

Thanks for the
I talked to the dr. again. This nodual may have always been on my pancreas. It may be nothing to worry about. He just wants to check again, it will be 3 months in March, to see if there are any changes in it.
So, I am feeling a bit better about the whole thing. There is really nothing I can do about it, so I need to just take it one day at a time.
Thanks again for your thoughts and replies.
