I may want to start working next week
4 weeks post op. I am too bored and feel like a fraud. My post-op is Thursday. I talked to my boss today.
I really think I can do this. I am going to see if I can start by working at home. I have approved disability until 2/23, but think I need some structure and something to do. This is NOT fun for me...Unless I can do home projects, sitting around is detrimental, imho, not optimal.

I may want to start working next week
Hi- I do not know the type of work that you do. As my title reflects I am a secretary and have been doing some work from home since one week post op.
It has worked well for me. I can suggest that you can do it if you make sure they understand you will do as much as you can handle as you are able. I had people email me what they needed and I check in as I feel up to it. Good Luck!

I may want to start working next week
I'm an accountant and started working half days from home via laptop at 5 days post op. I returned to work on a 40 hour week at 2.5 weeks. Since I get to sit on my...toosh all day, I did really good except that I got (and still get) very tired mid afternoon.
Again...not sure what you do, but talk to your Dr. maybe you can begin working on a limited basis.
Don't feel like a fraud...this is your time to heal...take as much advantage of it as you can. After all...that's what disability is for.

I work at a major insurance company and it is a desk job with lots of meetings.
I confess, I felt like freaking my boss out a little today. They want to know when I will be back and I told him I could not tell him that until my post-op (this Thursday) You know, I swear that I think that men think we are faking illness sometimes. So I told him, "not that is it really anyone's business, Jeff, but they removed a mass of tumors bigger than a soccer ball". Well THAT got a response! "Wow, good thing it WASN'T CANCEROUS!" Yeah, buddy! I do not want to be labeled as one of those people who are chronically ill/out. This was my first operation, and, by the grace of god, my last..... But I really don't feel too bad and think I can get back in the groove.
We'll see how this goes...

Someone said to me, when you go back to work you are expected to "be back" fully, wholeheartedly without any complications. You know yourself how you are feeling and what you are capable of. Could you start back part-time for a week and then ease your way back into it? Just a thought, for what it's worth.
