looking at hysterectomy...boooo....

So I'm looking at getting a hysterectomy...booo... but I'm starting to run out of other options. I've had the Novasure ablation, fibroids and cysts removed. Can't do hormones, my liver is wonky at the moment. So I'm waiting for my referral to go through so I can consult another GYN.

I'm almost to the point, I don't care anymore. I would rather have surgery than any more pain, weird periods, and all the grouchiness that has went with it. I'm sure my family is probably right there with me (especially if it gets rid of the grouch monster that has taken over me). Any advice/support/etc is appreciated.

On a side note, has anyone else had problems wearing pants, jeans in particular? The hurting in my tummy seems to increase when I wear jeans. So I've declared no pants at the moment, and am wearing my "house" dresses every where.

How old are you? Do you live in a major metropolitan area (is Da Vinci an option where you are?)

Re: looking at hysterectomy...boooo....

After dealing with the craziness of pain, long periods and moodiness for 3+ years - and trying every option available, I had a TAH last week. The surgery was not bad. I am a bit sore and tired, but my family has been very supportive and helpful. For me, I was just ready to have a permanent solution to my problem - and welcomed the surgery! Good luck!

@Dolly- I am 29, and I do live in a city. I don't know if the dr I'm being referred to has it. At this point I would take the surgery how ever they can do it.

@LSU- I hear ya on the periods! I actually just started my 3rd period in a months time. I'm glad your surgery went well and you have good support. I'm pretty ok with the idea of permantly not having to deal with this any more.

Re: looking at hysterectomy...boooo....

Finally! My insurance finally sent my authorization and I got my dr consult. I go talk about my options on 1 July. I'm looking forward to it. Tired of all the hurtiness and stupid periods. And speaking of period, this one finally hurt bad enough my hubby talked me into taking one of my pain pills. I hate those things, but I felt bad that my B was worried, so I took it. I feel sleepy but not hurting now.
Oh and on a good note, my Mama volunteered to travel here to take care of me and my mom-in-law volunteered to travel here to take care of the kids and hubby. I love my two moms!

Re: looking at hysterectomy...boooo....

Had my consult. Having a hysterectomy end of July/first of August. It will be a LAVH and they're taking my uterus and left ovary/falopian tube. Leaving my right ovary and cervix. Will be glad when this is all over....

Re: looking at hysterectomy...boooo....

I bought some capris and jeans with a strong, thick elastic waistband.

They were really comfortable.
I bought the jeans at an outlet store, and the capris at Costco.

Re: looking at hysterectomy...boooo....

Thanks suziq, I will check costco out. My wonderful hubby just went out and bought me some awesome stretchy pants that look nice enough to wear out in public. And a pair of pink skull-n-cross bones pj pants to wear when I go to the hospital. As intended I laughed, and will probably wear them when I finally get to go.
