Re: Have Godzilla the fibroid (volleyball size) and am terrified

I have a large fibroid the doc says is the size of a cantaloupe. She won't do anything other than an SAH due to the size and that she won't cut it up while it's inside in case it's cancerous. I've read these things are benign but the gyn onc (second opinion) said he would not proceed with anything other than an SAH in case its cancerous. Needless to say I'm a little confused by that but am moving forward and surgery is on the 30th.

My gyn-onc won't do a da Vinci hysterectomy on me because there is a chance I have cancer. Told me with da Vinci, he would "crunch" the fibroid and, if there is cancer, it would spread it. I am having a TAH on 3/22.

Re: Have Godzilla the fibroid (volleyball size) and am terrified

I totally relate to how you are feeling. I also have a Godzilla fibroid--15 x17 cm. I also have a hernia from incision which absolutely has to be repaired. I am having a TAH Tuesday. I have been chasing down referrals, and secretly wondering if it is a sign from the universe that I am not supposed to do this. I am missing 3 choir concerts, and possibly a fourth, depending on recovery. I am off work and have lifting restrictions so have way too much time on my hands to worry myself sick. I am hoping I will be recovered enough to go on my long anticipate cruise in early May. I just know I will feel so much better when I am not in pain daily and my pants all fit again and I do not look and feel six months pregnant. I am sending all of you, my fellow hysteria-sisters thoughts and prayers for healing and happy days ahead. It is comforting to know I am not alone.
