12 days post hysterectomy: Vaginal Itching

I am 12 days post surgery and my vaginal itching is driving me crazy. It seems it is worse in the middle of the night. I called the Dr. last week and was told I can use Desitin, which does nothing or if I think it's yeast, some external Monistat cream. I tried Monistat one night but it seemed to make it worse plus,I don't think it's yeast because there is no burning. It seems the only thing that helps a little is Beaudreux's Butt paste, another baby diaper rash paste.
Has anyone else had problems with itching?

Re: Vaginal Itching

YES!!!! had it before surgery after a bad reaction to an antibiotic from pneumonia. The doc gave me pills to take 2 weeks before surgery and it didn't work. I've tried ice packs, buttpaste, baby powder and something else I can't remember. Nothing helps! It's so raw down there it burns when I ️pee. The doc just called me in something to put on it. Hopefully this helps.

Re: Vaginal Itching

As long as it is not put internally, use whatever works. I used A&D ointment to keep things moist. Others have used coconut oil which I just found works good - slather it on at night when i won't be getting up to pee often. During the day I would use aloe vera gel for the dryness - which could be causing the itching as things heal. You had your ovaries removed so the tissues no longer have the estrogen to keep them moist.
