Re: Anxiety

Hi laink -

First off, know that all of your emotions, fears, feelings and anxiety are very normal. This is one tough surgery to face and digest. I remember feeling like I was strapped to a speeding locomotive that was headed for a big brick wall. And, I had a major freakout about four days my surgery. I understand exactly how you feel.

Here is an article on Coping with Anxiety and Fear before Hysterectomy. Keeping yourself very busy really does help and so does exercise.

Just know that you are not alone in any of this. We are here for you.

Re: Anxiety

I'm really scared, too. You have a whole community of support here, but I can only imagine how hard it is to not have a girlfriend to support you in person. The best advice I've been given is to keep busy, journal about my feelings so I don't totally overwhelm myself. You got this!

Hello Laink,
I am back after a long sabbatical with HysterSisters. My surgery was done 8/25/14. I last wrote on a thread around Jan 2015(I think).

Like you, I was scared too. The correspondence with these women on this site, help me to get through some emotional times. I love them all.

2.5 years later, I most say, the quality of my life has increased; I can wear white again; and no more stressful doctor visits. Now, there are time I go through physical changes, but they are expected at my age and because of the surgery. For the most part, I feel awesome.

Just do what the doctors tell you to do (PLEASE DON'T BE SUPERWOMAN), try to get a support system in place and pray for healing. Take care of yourself and 2 years from now, you will be telling your encouragement/endearment plight alike.

In reflecting back, I am blessed and grateful that I made the decision to have a hysterectomy. I am no longer a miserable medical mess. Good luck darling... I will be here to support you...:0)

Upcoming hysterectomy 2/22: Anxiety

Hi ladies,
I do and try to keep busy, on Tuesday I cleaned house, like they suggested REALLY clean house!
Well , I obviously did to much , because by then end of the cleaning , I was getting lightening stricken sharp pains in my uterus. I can't walk to much , either because it feels like my uterus is going to fall out on the floor .. I do a little every day, but for the most part I have to lay on the couch.
I got my hair done at the hairdresser Yesterday, that helped my mood a little.
My husband is able to take time off work before surgery day and a week or two post surgery to be home with me!
I gratefull , I won't be alone , and don't have to be concerned about the house and my little dog .
That in itself is a good feeling.!
Until now , I was a good sleeper, last night , I was up every few hours...
I'll try and sleep in the day , but not likely to happen, with this hamster running in her wheel , in my head.
Thank -you ladies for your support .!!!
I don't feel so alone!!!
