Sagging at vagina entrance since 9 weeks post op

This may be TMI but my symptoms are very bothersome and I hope some sister has a possible answer:

I had a perfect recovery and was symptom free after 5 weeks. At 9 weeks I did some heavy lifting, standing and bending a lot, and the following two days I felt pain and burning somewhere up there like the cuff maybe. I rested on and off for a week but started noticing a bulge at the vagina, but no problems with bladder or rectum. I was sure I tore my vaginal cuff or stretched/detached it from their support as they were stitched to the uterosacral ligaments.
It is 11-12 weeks now and most pain is gone but it feels like a tampon is stuck there or something is slipping out. Very annoyning. Also, my groin and inside thighs are sore especially later in the day. I feel my vagina 24/7 - NOT GOOD - and never a problem before 9 weeks post op and lifting - I thought I was home free before then.

I went to my gyno 2 days ago and she checked everything standing and lying down. She said my cuff is intact (not moving and healed nicely) and no signs of recto/cystocele.
She thinks I just strained myself and need time to recover.

But I don't think this will go away:
I had felt the entrance before 9 weeks several times and it was firm and tight. Now it is squishy and seems a lot of tissue is sagging in there. Also, with a mirror I see more pink tissue there (very moist too). My gyno thinks my vagina looks normal but I know it is not my normal self. I feel it and I see it. Something stretched out or tore at 9 weeks. Help!

I've searched everywhere on this site and the web and do not see a similar combination of symptoms.

What you are describing sounds like a prolapsed bladder but your gyn would/should have discovered that. Maybe it is time to see another doctor or at least call your doctor and discuss it with him/her.

I would also suggest getting a second opinion...this is exactly how I felt when I had my first bladder prolapse..the bulge and extra tissue look to the vagina, the constant awareness....my normal gyno said it was not a problem that it was from birth 6 months before and would return to normal with excercise...NOT!!.....second doc wound up doing surgery on me for the cystocele/rectocele as it turned out.....please see another doctor if you can..let us know

May13, thanks for posting on this topic. I am having similar issues and am concerned about prolapse. I am having some internal pain, and a feeling of my insides sitting lower than before the hyst. I wonder if this could be a normal result, or if it indicates a problem that should be checked by the dr?
Thanks and best wishes.

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
Regarding bladder prolapse, wouldn't I have additional symptoms like incontinence? I would think it would be more obvious too.
My gyno/surgeon did a vaginal vault suspension which is still intact and said there was no recto/cystocele noted before or during the LAVH procedure. That's why I'm puzzled, but she still could be overlooking something. I am just wondering how it could start so suddenly and after lifting 1 day at the 9 week mark.

Tonight my DH (and he is a very supportive, loving DH), looked at it with me and felt around. He said it looks like it did before hysterectomy and that, as a matter of fact, he found that it was too rigid at the opening around the 6th and 8th week (when he had last looked at it!)...so maybe I should be happy...for now.
What I will do is wait a week and see if the groin and thigh pain subside (could be from overdoing anyway), and see if this vaginal tissue becomes less obvious. Maybe it is irritated. I am ovulating with a lot of moisture so this may be making it more sensitive.

I am DEFINITELY going back to see my doctor in a week if I still feel like this. If I'm not satisfied I will get a 2nd opinion with a pelvic specialist/urogyno.
I just don't want to lose my mind in the meantime.

DH made me feel so much better tonight. I was crying on the phone with him earlier and when he came home he was so concerned. I am hoping he is right.

I will update you in a week and let you know how I'm doing.

I did not have incontinence issues with a prolapsed bladder. The fallen bladder actually acted like a "plug" preventing leakage issues. I am dealing with them now so if you do have surgery to fix it do not be surprised if you develop incontinence issues while your bladder heals itself. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

My doctor said that there is no harm in a prolapse bladder. If you can live with the discomfort then you can put it off. I would suggest you get a second opinion since your current doctor does not seem to even want to acknowledge you have one. My doctor is not an urogyn but he does have significant experience doing hysts and bladder repair.

Thanks Capegurl. I think I did read somewhere that a prolapsed bladder can prevent incontinence prior to surgery. Funny thing is that my fibroids caused pressure on my bladder before the hysterctomy. After the surgery I immediately felt soooo much better and started peeing like normal again.
I will definitely consider it and bringing it up with my dr. if I'm still annoyed and in discomfort in a week. In the meantime, I will rest, take Motrin and see if it lets up. No harm in waiting.

In the meantime..no more heavy lifting!!!...it is hard, I know..believe me, I have a 48lb, DS and I can never lift him again, EVER!!...but at least he can still sit up on my lap when I want to hold him...he says I treat him like a baby now the way I hold him....LOL.....but it is important, if you have had anykind of repairs below or prolapses to adhere to your lifetime weight limits.....so take it easy until you can see what is up...hopefully it is just alot of swelling from overdoing it for a few days in a row...keeping fingers crossed for you

Okay I didn't wait a full week to call doc. Yesterday I went shopping and did some light decorating (took Motrins and I wanted to feel normal and not dwell on my symptoms). Then I drove my DS and teamates to practise 1 hr away and back. I got very achy (groin and thigh) and tired.
So this morning I felt better but quickly the groin and thigh pain started. I called the dr. and she asked me to immediately go get an ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts. I came back an hour ago - normal ovaries- and the dr. called again. She now suspects a possible pelvic infection (which I suspected a week ago but was told no). So I'm starting vaginal and oral antibiotics and will be seeing the dr. Mon. morning.
At least she is very responsive and on top of trying to figure it out. My stools have been watery for a week which is another sign. But..what about that 'feeling' in the vagina? Well she said that could possibly be from the infection too.
So, I will bring up the prolapse issues at the appt. to make sure they are taken another look. I will also ask her if I should see a uro/gyno as a next step if the antibiotics don't do the trick.
I will update next week.

Well I did go back to the dr yesterday after she started me on antibiotics Friday when I had called her about my on going issues, jsut in case it was an infection.

I told her I hadn't slept for 3 days worried about a possible prolapse. Wondering why I feel this dragging pressure causing groing aches, like I'm pressing on something when I sit, like a tampon is stuck and coming out when I walk, and feel better when I lie down.

She did another aggressive pelvic exam (vag/rec) and saw absolutlety no signs of any prolapse. She said my vaginal cuff has healed beautifully and no sign of stitches or infection and to stop my antibiotics.
She was puzzled so called in her partner to check me out as well. She did so, poking and prodding and the only wierd thing was that when she pressed on my vaginal cuff I had pain, where there shouldn't be any because it was healed.
I showed them I how I did my Kegels and they said they were very strong and that my pelvic floor is strong too. I need to stop worrying about prolapse because it is not it.

So, they gave me something for my anxiety (I asked for it for the 1st time in my life) to help me sleep (and heal).
They said I have nothing to worry about. It is not serious, not prolapse and that I must give it more time to heal after lifting so much on Nov. 21st! Afterall, they said, if you strained your back it would take more than 2 weeks to heal.

I slept well last night and felt better this morning. As the day wore on, the pressure and all my symptoms came back. I'm sitting on the computer now and feel it. Feels like I'm sitting on a soft egg and it is irritating, but when I look down there, nothing's bulging out - yet it feels like it. It is sooo frustrating.

I am still going back to see the gyno on Jan. 4th. This practise doesn't deal with obstetrics, just gyno. I am going to seek other opinions if this doesn't go away.
I am otherwise in perfect health, not overweight, no incontinence, and very active. This has slowed me down and I feel like I'm 80 from the waist to my knees.
I was feeling great at 5-9 weeks and now this.
Does any of this make sense to anyone?
