PCOS Information - Hyst won't make it go away
I came across this wonderful and really informative post by KatCarney on the PCOS messageboard. It is very long...but very thorough and will help clarify what PCOS is really about. If you find you have no other problems and suffer from PCOS ONLY, having a hysterectomy may not be the answer. There are medications you can take for treatment.
Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome - PCOS - is the most common endocrine disease that affects women of reproductive age (puberty to menopause). It is also one of the most confusing. It affects approximately 10% of women in the reproductive age group. There have been some new developments that are giving us a much better understanding of this problem.
PCOS is an unfortunate term because the word "ovarian" appears in the name of this syndrome....

Apologies
I am a newbie. I am really sorry about this. I just wanted to share my knowledge and make sure that other hystersisters were completely informed with as much knowledge as they could hold of before making their decision. I found out AFTER my hyster that PCOS does NOT go away at all. I thought it only fair to spread th eword around. I did not realize I was violating any laws. my deepest apologies....

PCOS Information - Hyst won't make it go away
I have PCOS. It did not go away with my TAH/BSO in October. My symptoms are better, though not gone! Here is an old thread that really goes into detail about PCOS after Hyst. The Reply by (((StampinCat))) is very detailed and informative!!!
https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...highlight=PCOS
Hope this helps!!!
My PCOS symptoms are something I will have to deal with forever, but they are controllable~with the right ENDOCRINOLOGIST. I have had good results following the SouthBeach Diet. But, since my hyst, I have been diagnosed with Hypertension and PreDiabetes. :ugh: I no longer have the painful ovaries, painful intercourse, and hightend risk for Endometrial Cancer.
The new name, according to my doctor, for PCOS is METABOLIC DISORDER---men have it too and have never had ovaries!!!
's,
Ronda

PCOS Information - Hyst won't make it go away
I have a question about that article. Who is the person that wrote it? I'm wondering if this person is a dr. or someone that gathered information.
I have pco and I am having a complete hyster because of it and like most, thought that would take care of the problem. Now I feel bad that that may not take care of the problem because the only reason I am going through this is for the "cure". I will have to look further into this but was wondering what your opinion of all of this is.
Thank you,
Sherri

The link to the whole article is in my above post. it was written by

Please consider all the available options and treatment out there. It is NOT your ovaies causing this but your adrenal gland. It has simply manifested itself and 'shown up' in your ovaries.
If you have any questions or want further reading material then i suggest you try the following link:

the link of the article by the above mentioned DR is as follows:

This is a website for women suffering from PCOS. It has a similar format to this one...very helpful.
