anterior repair too tight !

I am nearly 5 months out from my TVH and anterior repair, I am going back in for surgery in 4 weeks for removal of granulation tissue on my anterior vaginal wall and a cystoscopy. When I feel up there(TMI) on the anterior repair site, it feels as though it is sewn too tight and my bladder is very sensitive. Has anyone had an anterior repair too tight, if so, what was done to fix it ?

anterior repair too tight !

Hi flapjack I had A&P repairs with my TVH, and had to have a second vaginal surgery a couple of months later because I developed a vaginal adhesion -- a sort of bridge of scar tissue connecting the anterior and posterior repairs that divided my vagina into two and made penetration impossible. The procedure was done using Versed (lots of it) rather than general anesthesia, which meant it could be done as day surgery, and I was up and out within a couple of hours. There was very little pain despite the tissue having been cut, cauterized and stitched -- there aren't a lot of pain receptors in the vaginal walls, thankfully. After the surgery, my DR had me use Premarin cream 3 times a day for 3 weeks to help the area heal and return the vaginal walls to their former elasticity. Within a very few weeks, things were better than ever.

I would talk with your DR about your concern about the repair being too tight... but also ask about using some type of vaginal estrogen to help the area heal and help the vagina regain its ability to stretch to accomodate. Remember that our vaginas were intended to permit the passage of something much larger than any partner, but many of us lack enough estrogen post op to keep them nice and stretchy.

I hope this helps... good luck with your upcoming repair surgery.

s,
-Linda
