Post op one week. Can I do stuff now?
Like dishes, and laundry? Just little stuff? My body feels okay except when I bend and I hate to just lay here. I've already cooked a couple of meals and DH is helping a lot but I can't stand the way the others clean up the house. I like it the way I do it. My husband tells me to lay down or sit down and he'll get it. However, 2 hours later there is still food on the plates and I just want to clean my own house. Will I damage something from doing normal chores like sweeping as long as my body doesn't seem to reject? Please someone tell me is this kind of stuff okay a week after surgery.

Absolutely not! All those motions will damage your internal stitches. No twisting, bending, lifting, nothing. It's too huge a risk to take, so don't take it.

Please don't overdo it! You definitely don't want to sweep - that uses the stomach muscles too much. I felt pretty much like you - I like things done a certain way at home and done NOW!! Learn to let go. You can slowly get things back like you want them later. Right now, you need to take care of yourself. You may not feel pain when you do something, but it can come back to bite you later. You should not be bending to pick things up, either. Let DH take care of you. I know that it brought my husband and myself closer than ever to let him take care of me. Be patient, he will get things done. I truly hope you will take care of yourself. Like I have read on here many times, you only have one time to heal correctly. There is a checklist of what you can do and can't do on this site. Have you checked out the checkpoints which break it down into what you can begin to do and when? It is truly helpful. Please check it out and take care!

If you want to heal right I would't be doing anything you suggest. It's been said over and over you only have one chance of healing. Everything can wait. Who cares if things don't get done the way you want. You'll have plenty of time after you heal to fix it.

you should really ask your dr if the activity you want to do is okay. since your cervix was removed, you have a vaginal cuff to heal and you dont want to overdo it too soon.

Re: Post op one week. Can I do stuff now?
I am going to check the check points post now I haven't went through it yet. I am at home right now with the 2, 4 and 9 year old the 13 year old and my husband are at spring practice and then my husband is back to finish his shift at work and I HATE when he leaves me. I usually have supper cooked and the house clean when he gets off but these days hes looking after me, going to work, and coming home to play housewife. I hate that. I want to take care of my family and I feel guilty that they have to take care of me. At the same time I don't want to do anything that will have me off my feet longer then necessary because I don't do well with recovery. When I had my second child the dr. threatened to tie me to the bed because I was up cleaning the room 4 hours after delivery but it needed to be done so bad. People came in with cups and did'nt throw them away and newspapers everywhere. I promise to not to finish the dishes though and my husband says he will either cook or bring something home. I am happy that my family has pulled together and helped with the house I just can't wait till I am able to look after things my way again.

This is the perfect time to learn to let go. Try to focus on thinking what is the most important thing here, hopefully your long term health comes first.
Stop looking at things that are not in the right place, or the right way, try to look at something else. Push yourself to leave things and put them in wrong places, you need to allow yourself to do that.

All the cleaning will be there when you are healed. I would not do any bending or cleaning. You do not want to cause adhesions. I know it is really boring but try to let your internal stitches heal for a few more weeks before doing the chores. Best wishes.

Anna, you would do well to follow whatever orders the doctors sent you home with, i.e., no lifting, no housework, no driving until...whenever your doctor deems it time. And even then, don't rush it.
