11 days Post op

Well, this site had prepared me for most of my concerns. I read alot about pre-op and post-op matters. I learned a few different things that I want to pass on.
1. Try popcicles after surgery!!! They are great to help get rid of dry mouth. It was the only thing that totally made dry mouth stop for a time.
2. Have someone stay with you while you are in the hospital. I was in pain and needed someone to help me out the 2 nights I was at the castle. I could not move my own self because of stitches, so my DH helped me roll over and I did not have to call the nurses through out the night.
3. During the day have someone who will make you obey all the rules with you. I had my mother who was great and she made me drink all the time. The best thing for you.
Walk even short ones 2 rooms down helps. I would increase everytime I walked. When I left I had walked to nurses station twice and then back to rest.
4. Rest, Rest and more rest. When tired rest. It helps the healing process.

Now I am healing and even went to church today.

Donna, that is great advice!! I would like to add; DRINK FLUIDS....alot! Also, Sodapop made me miserable after surgery, it really increased my issues with the gastro-intestinal track!!!

Hey fellow church-goer...I went today too...the walk from the car over the grassy area was nerve wrecking - i knew I would fall in front of all these nice people.

I bought some crystal lite on the go lemon aid and have been drinking it like someone is going to steal it from me. I think I get my 8 glasses in plus with this stuff. I can't get enough. Soda doesn't quench me anymore.
