Peroxide douche?

HI guys! I just had my 3 week post op visit and he told me to start mixing 1pint of peroxide and 1 pint warm water and douching 2 times a week. Anyone else have to do this? It seems to strong. Im afraid that it will kill all the good bacteria and I will get an infection. My Dh says not to worry peroxide will kill everything good and bad but the doc said it was just to wash out dead skin and stiches. I'm doing great and getting ready for my first day back at work

It's great to hear you're doing so well but try not to overdo things by going back to work too soon, and possibly undoing your good progress.

I keep hearing nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks, but as we all know, the doctors opinions differ greatly as to what should be done and the amount of movement we should all do... Maybe someone else will come along that has had this suggestion.

My doctor told me no douching at all for 6 weeks, or nothing inside the vagina. So this is the first time I heard of this. I guess all doctors are different on different things.

not to counter what your doc says, as the doc is the doc but yikes, peroxide is very drying. a peroxide douche does not sound good to me. i think that the vagina has its own cleansing mechanisms...did he see something abnormal in there?

He didn't say anything was abnormal he just said that this will speed the healing and wash out dead skin and stiches. I did it and I am having more discharge, its brownish now. I have found other posts on this but nothing dated after 2004 so I guess I will trust him it's just weird i guess because I have been told that peroxide is very potent stuff. I will keep you updated and see what happens
