severe yeast infection

I'm currnetly battling a really bad yeast infection. I had some years ago but never like this. The vaginal pain is unreal, and also abdominal cramps at times. I had cultures done the other day and my doc said they came back showing yeast, so he is having me repeat the gynazole again. I've read about numerous home made remedies, and have tried applying the yogurt and got some temporary relief. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this much discomfort from just a yeast infection.

severe yeast infection

Hi giselle01,
Oh yeah!!!! I have and I sometimes think I might have one now but it isn't anywhere near what I remember so I think it might just be dryness making me itch. I am sorry that you are going through this, it is no fun. I don't know much about the home remedies but all I can say is use the medication until it is all gone even if you start to feel better because it could come back.
Take care,
Debbie

Is there always pain associated with having a yeast infection? What are the symptoms to look out for? I don't think I've ever had one!

severe yeast infection

I get yeast infections when I use antibiotics, which I am on right now for a UTI. But I have always had good luck with Diflucan. I have tried the vaginal medication and all it does for me is cause more itching and soreness. Maybe ask your doctor about the Diflucan. Its a pill.

severe yeast infection

I used to get yeast infections all the time...nothing ever worked well enough or fast enough. (Monistat 1, yeah right!) My MIL told me about these pills she took that have live bacteria in them and work really well. I took two for a yeast infection that was coming on a little over a week ago and it was gone by the next morning. The pills are called Acidolphus and you can get them at Walmart or anyplace like that. You may want to check with your doctor to make sure there aren't any reactions with any prescriptions your taking but they worked wonderfully for me and my MIL. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi giselle01
I'm sorry you're suffering with this. Yes, they can be miserable, but Mori, no they don't always have pain associated with them. More commonly there is itching.
I have also had very good luck using acidophilus. This is the same thing you find in yogurt. Since you seem to have a pretty severe case I would recommend you look in a health food store. They are usually a higher dosage and have to be kept in the refrigerator. I have the used the ones from the drugstore too.
There is an article on Yeast Infections in the post op articles. It has some additional information that might help.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
