Walking: How Much/When?

At the hospital, they made me get out of bed and walk some. They said that it would make things heal up faster.

Well now that I'm almost 10 days out of surgery, how much should I be walking and when? How far? Just wondering if any of you might know...

FYI I had a TAH with an up/down incision, and I have 32 staples.

Re: Walking: How Much/When?

Everyone is different in healing times and some days I know that I could do more or less than on others. I would let your body tell you when to stop. The walking sure did help me in my healing although I did feel tired afterword. It still felt good. :-) Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Re: Walking: How Much/When?

Just walk until you feel a bit heavy or get a slight twinge then stop. Try again every hour but rest in between. It will get better.
