Pre-op questions

I just went to my pre-op visit yesterday and am scheduled for abdominal surgery on June 26th. I wasn't ready to answer the questions from the doctor so I'm asking for input on the question whether to keep the cervix or not. With a history of fibrods, a large 8c cyst on my ovaries the surgery is definate, I'm just not sure of all the particulars yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Pre-op questions

Hi, Flutey --

I, too, have a history of fibroids and a large benign tumor on my left ovary (removed).

My surgery left my cervix, as my doc and I thought it would be beneficial for pelvic support. That being said, I had no fibroid involvement or any disease in my cervix.

As for whether it makes a difference in sexual response, opinions seem divided on this.

I wavered back and forth on this issue until I felt at peace with my choice.

Good luck!

Pre-op questions

Hi, I had the same challenge as you, and in the end had to put a lot of trust in my doctor, which I was willing to do. I told him what my wishes were, but made it clear that I needed him to do what he needed to do to make me better. I am very happy with the results and would have done it again in a heart beat.
