I haven't had my surgery yet, but I was told by my DR. that I would be in the hospital for 1 possibly 2 nights.

Hi Jenny. I over did it when I got home because I hate for others to have to wait on me. The first day I got home I unloaded the dishwasher, cooked dinner and cleaned up afterwards, threw in a load of laundry and bent down to put the dog out. After that I was exhausted and had more pain. The Percocet and Motrin didn't really touch the pain and I was unable to sleep because I could not get comfortable, my incision was pulling and I felt burning in my stomach muscles. The next day I went to the Dr for staple removal and he asked me how I slept, when I told him he said I was lucky I didn't open my incision or rip out any internal stitches. He made it very clear that I was looking for trouble if I kept bending and doing too much which would compromise the pelvic floor repair and cause me to have more surgery. I've been behaving ever since!

Hi, I'm from Ontario! My surgery is Sep 12-05 and I'm told I'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days. Good luck!!

i had my tah on monday morning at 7am was home by tuesday morning at 10am. everything went very well. no problems at all. i had a great surgeon.

Just want to add my "two cents" to this discussion. I have 2 major insurances and was still only allowed to stay one nite, I think it is barbaric to make u leave so soon, I had a LAVH with bladder and rectal repair also.They never asked about bowels, gas, etc. and to top it off,,, i had to self catherize myself at home for over a week,,, and i am notttttttt a nurse,, it was painful, disgusting,not to mention scary, I just dont understand it at all,, thanks for letting me vent,,,, karen
