complications from hysterectomy

Hello, I am new to this group and thought this might be a good place to start . Please advise otherwise if it is not.
Feb 2007 was my hysterectomy 5 days later I was back in the hospital with a Vaginal Fistula. Where I spent three weeks. I was able to celebrate with the nurses since it was one year ago that I could say that I was a breast Cancer Survior. I left the hospital with a colostomy. and 2 surguries. Since they put my colostomy on my left side the same side of my TRAM Flap. I have a large Hernia and I am due to have my Colostomy Reversal this May. Since my Feb Colostomy never heald and had to have my 3rd surgery in July to repair the Fistula and remove a portion of the Bowel. Well my hope is to hear from HysterSisiters about colostomy reversal as I am very nervous about how my life will be after the reversal as well as the The reconstructive surgery they will be doing on my abdominal wall. Hi (((angm))) and welcome to Hystersisters! I'm glad you found us. Gee, you have been through a lot already... I hope this upcoming colostomy reversal will be the end to all of it and the beginning of a healthier future for you.

I haven't had a colostomy, though I did have most of my colon removed a year after my hysterectomy so I understand about the toll those major surgeries takes on us. I have heard that the reversal is really not so bad - and it has the upside that you won't have to deal with the ostomy anymore Are they doing your reversal as an open or laparascopic procedure, do you know yet? Thanks for your thoughts and information. I will be having abdominal surgery with a hospital stay of 6 days. For both the reversal and Hernia Repair.
