Frustrated one year later

Had a partial hysterectomy 8-10-11, internal bleeding 8-12/11 and then right ovary removal 1-26-12. The ovary was due to pain. In between have had pain and things not right! I went back to my obygn and she said my current pain was a urologist prob, so now I had a cytoscope done and he found nothing. My prob is that my lower stomach hurts, hurts to have intimacy and i pee nonstop! My urologist now says it may be scar tissue that formed and is going to consult with my obygn . Any one still have problems after almost a year and hd scar tissue and if so ddi u have it surgical removed! so frustrated, 4 kids and hubby gone for a year

(((Emperipal)))

I am sorry you are still dealing with pain and issues this far out. I know that can be very frustrating.

Did you have a cystoscopy in office, or did you have one with hydrodistention under anesthesia? If you didn't have the hydrodistention, then your doctor may not have found indications of IC which could explain your symptoms. IC is also a diagnosis of exclusions so your doctors may want to rule out some more things before saying you have IC.

I have had issues with both IC and adhesions. Because I also had known endometriosis, I did head into OR with an endometriosis specialist for all three. The cystoscopy with hydrodistention was done first and verified my doctor's diagnosis. He then cleaned up all the endometriosis and adhesions and placed an adhesion barrier to help prevent new ones. One particular adhesion has scarred by bowel to my vaginal cuff.

Following surgery, he prescribed hydroxyzine for a time to allow the mast cells in my bladder to heal. Now, as long as I watch my IC triggers I do well. Any pelvic pain now is typically related to ovulation and IBS unless I have let my IC flare.

So for me, surgery for adhesions worked. However, that is not true for everyone. For one, surgery itself can cause the formation of new adhesions. Yes, an adhesion barrier can be placed as it was for me, but they are only about 50% effective so it may not work for you.

My IC was also more simply controlled than for many other women. Whether or not you are given an official diagnosis right now, you might try following an IC diet to see if your symptoms lessen. The IC-Network has a lot of helpful information. If there is any chance your bowels might be involved, you also want to follow an IBS diet.

You should also be keeping a very detailed symptom diary. This can help you and your medical team figure out what is going on.

You may also want to check around to see if there is a doctor in your area who specializes in pelvic pain. That type of doctor may have some knowledge that can help you.

in there and keep working with your medical team to help you feel your best!
