Should I Boot Gyn for Gyn/ Oncologist?

Hi,

After my first ultrasound results, my gyn wanted to do a EMB. I told her I will take the wait-and-see approach just like the radiologist suggested in the first place. Too quick on the draw. A EMB is not her expertise!

So, I received my 2nd pelvic ultrasound results and now it shows an "unexpected appearance for the endometrium raising the possibility of infectious or neoplastic change. Endometrial biopsy may be necessary for definitive characterization" according to the radiologist. I decided to find an gyn/oncologist for a second opinion and to do the D&C(if necessary).

My gyn had her nurse call me to tell me that they know about my second opinion appt. Gee, thanks I didn't know I made the appointment. I'm following what the radiologist said and I need some one who does a D&C for a living and knows what cancer cells look like.

I'm looking to jump ship. She told me that brownish discharge before my cycle was typical, but then turned around and wrote in my report that I had abnormal menstruation. Then she said she can't tell if I'm in per-menopause. but menopause is one of her "areas of expertise". Any she NEVER, EVER suggested that I get my hormones and thyroid checked. I don't trust her anymore.Should I allow my gyn/oncologist to discuss her findings with my gyn?

Re: Should I Boot Gyn for Gyn/Oncologist?

If you plan to continue with your GYN, it would be best for your care to have communication between the two. If you change GYNs, then the new one should be privy to the consult. If you don't trust a Dr, sometimes it's best to change, but you might want to get her rationale for why she has or hasn't done the things you think she should have done. There may be answers to those questions. It sounds like a good idea you are seeing a GYN oncologist and I hope the communication with that Dr goes well.
