What's a typical 3-Week Post-Op Appt.?

I had a TAH on June 15th. Friday I had my 3-week post-op appointment. He looked at my incision and said I was free to do anything - Excercise, Swim and have intercourse. How can he release me to these at 3-weeks without an internal exam? I told him I still get cramps if I'm on my feet for too long. He replied with "Just listen to your body." I am scared to start any excercise beyond walking and I don't think I'm ready for intimacy. Am I being a hypochrondriac? Has anyone else out there been released for these activities without an internal exam? My mom says I need to change doctors. But I'd really hate to start over at this point. HELP

What's a typical 3-Week Post-Op Appt.?

I would be very leary of that advice. I had an internal exam at my 2 week app. and was cleared for swimming, bathing, and anything I could do without much pain. I was told to listen to my body as well. I think that proceeding with sex before an internal exam is done is very; risky. What if things aren't quite healed in there. I would not want to introduce all those germs to the area. Angie

What's a typical 3-Week Post-Op Appt.?

I go for my 4 week check up on Thursday. My surgery was the day after yours.
I will be having an internal exam and I was told no sex until he examined me to see how I am healing.

Personally, I would want an internal exam before being released for intercourse. I would be too scared otherwise.

I have read where some other ladies have been released without an internal exam so you are not alone. Maybe someone else will come along that has been through the same thing.

What's a typical 3-Week Post-Op Appt.?

I'm usually not one to second-guess a doctor but I definitely would NOT try intercourse before 6 weeks preferably with an internal exam first. At my 3 week checkup, My doctor said he has had patients that didnt follow his no sex for six weeks rule and they ended up tearing their vaginal cuff and had several extra weeks of healing. Also he stressed that I shouldnt lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk yet either. All the other restrictions were lifted.

All along my doctor has said no regular exercise (except walking) until 3 months. He said the same thing at the 3-week visit. I don't understand why I'm reading about so many sisters who are exercising so soon!
