9 weeks DH and GYN differ

I am 9 weeks post op. I have indications that I am dealing with some type of infection for the second time after surgery. The first time was 5 weeks post op. After a week of pelvic pain, slight discharge, etc., etc. I called the doctor, who called in a RX for a yeast infection. My husband STRONGLY believes that I should be seen to verify what is going on and appropriately treated. I really don't want to go in again, and the doctor didn't ask me too. Since the pain has been bad enough to put me in bed at times, DH wants to know for certain that I do not have another post-surgery infection. If you were me, would you just take the RX for a yeast infection or would you ask to be seen. I guess I think the doctor will think I am a chronic complainer since I've already been in once. Yet, the doctor verified an infection from the reabsorbing of stitches at that time - so it wasn't just in my head.

listen2,
When there is more than 1 opinion involved and lots of uncertaninty things can get confusing. If you took an anibiotic for your first infection it could cause a yeast infection. (antibiotics sometimes do). You can always get something from your pharmcy that lets you test yourself for yeast infection. When you say you are still in pain enough to put you back in bed and that you don't waht the doctor to think you are a cronic complainer this concerns me. I always say better safe than sorry. If it were me I'd see if my DR would se me.....then I"d have my DH take me out to lunch Good luck with your decision!

The net is hard sometimes. No need for a prescription for a yeast infection. Nor will it cause pain, just discomfort and itching. So...yes I think you need to take your temperature and be seen by a physician if pain is severe enough at 9 weeks out to knock you down. Tiredness knocking you around yes, and having pain yes, but not what you are describing. You need to see the Doctor, it's what your husband wants and your symptoms warrant a visit.
All the best.

You already have good advice. I just wanted to add a little something. DO NOT worry you are a cronic complainer.
If you hurt, call and go in, if something worries you call and go in if needed. But with what you are explaining I would go in. Even if it is a yeast infection, and I hope that is all that it is, don't you want to know for sure? Also, I can remember knowing I had a yeast infection oa few times over the years. Even though I had been going to the same doc for a long time, she still made me come in before she would give me a script. My only other option would have been to get an OTC yeast cream.

Please it is better to be safe then sorry!

Hi!

I've only had a yeast infection a couple of times but it never caused pain. It was uncomfortable in that it was itchy but pain enough to send me to bed...no. That doesn't sound like a typical yeast infection symptom.

I think going to the doctor to be checked is a smart idea. I went to the doctor many times post-op and wasn't considered a chronic complainer. The staff all knew me by name because I was in so much. My doctor was very good about checking out my concerns and taking care of them--never making me feel that I was wasting his time.

I hope you can get an appointment to be seen soon. Please keep us updated, okay?
