Re: 2 years post op daily pain

Zenyatta5 also makes an excellent point: pain is really subjective.
But it's not imagined.
Once I had all checks for the horrible options done - I felt like a massive weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I felt lighter - and the pain, the same untreated pain of the last two years - became truly bearable. It was there. But it wasn't threatening my life. I accepted it as part of me. And that made my life worth living again. I cannot explain right. It just gave me freedom from the pain. That sounds esoteric :-))

Thanks for your replies, hope out there yet. I know how it feels when they poke you just to make sure you are in pain and you nearly shoot off the bed and your eyes are filled with tears and then say pain is subjective. I will be open minded about the pain clinic :doctor: and will get a private MRI done before hand so I can get the maximum benefit from the pain clinic and hopefully we can find a solution sometime soon so I can feel a bit more myself. Thanks for the support and advice.

Good luck! How I hated when the told me that I imagine the pain. After all, I now know all my bones are scraping against each other. It's not in your mind. You deserve help. And your mind might be able to help a bit.

Re: 2 years post op daily pain

It always ticks me off when the docs claim that the pain is imagined. I know that the brain can play a role but I also know that the pain is real. I am much more sensitive to the pain than other people even though it may be delayed. Thank goodness I finally have docs who finally realized and listened to me. That is the most important thing. Just get the docs who listen to you.
