5 days pre-op with fever

Hi Ladies,

My TAH is scheduled for Monday, June 13th. If I wasn't nervous enough, I have developed a fever (this is 3rd day with it) and Dr. hasn't figured out why. Yesterday my urine test was fine. Today I go for an internal exam. I have some abdominal and lower back discomfort, but attribute that to an enlarged uterous and numerous fibroids. I have no other pain or discomfort.
If the issue is my uterus, I had a biopsy around 4-6 weeks ago.

Has anyone gotten an infections from the uterine biopsy?

Has anyone else developed a fever pre-op??

Thanks for all your help and info!

Melanie

5 days pre-op with fever

Melanie,
I have not, but just wanted to say I hope everything works itself out for you. I have the same date as you and I would be very frustrated if I would have to be rescheduled. Hope all turns out okay.

Hugs,
Aimee

uterine infection

Thanks Aimee, I appreciate it. My doctor visit today gave me
an answer. I do have a uterine infection! So I'm taking Keflex
4x a day till surgery. It shouldn't need to be rescheduled!!
Best of luck to you on Monday as well!

Hugs,

I am having surgery on the 13th too. I had a surgery date cancelled because of a fever and it was devastating. They thought it was an infection but it wasn't. They never knew why but the operation was cancelled and I had to get another doctor(long ugly story) anyway, all is well now and so far so good. I will be thinking about you Monday and we will have a lot to talk about when we get out. Keep reminding yourself as to why we are doing this and that we will be *new women* when we are finished(does it sound like I am trying to convience myself or you )

I am glad that they figured out the fever, I would think it would bring some peace of mind to know what is causing it!

Good luck to you and Debbie as well on Monday, the final countdown begins. I think I am starting to terrify my DH, I am kind of withdrawling a little because I know I will be fine and the financial burden of it all is weighing a lot on my mind. I am only going to be off of my work for 2 weeks (I run my own childcare business) & I really wish I could have more time but I can't without putting my business in jeapordy. Clients are understanding but they can only make alternate arrangements for so long before the alternate arrangements become permanent ones, just the way it goes. It's nothing I or DH can control but still a little difficult to swallow. Anyway,a positive attitude will help with our journey so that is where I am trying to stay. Best wishes!
Aimee
