Chest pains/ tightening

Tonight makes the 2nd time I've had a tight, wringing
feeling in my chest and jaw/ throat. It's lasted about an
hour tonight and 30 minutes the other night. I felt like
I couldn't catch my breath. I tried to lay down and
the heavyness got worse. I don't know if this
is some kind of panic attack or something. it's new to me.
I am afraid to go to the er and run up a hospital
bill and have them refuse me for the surgery.

My SO isn't any help at the moment. He's making things
worse in fact. I thought I'd get online and
maybe get my mind off of his BS. I bet
he wouldn't even call 911 if I was having a heart attack.
I think he's so used to me hurting all the time that
he just doesn't believe me anymore.

I don't know what triggered this tonight. THings were
going pretty smoothly. It's still happening and I'm
scared. I also don't want it to be a reson for the doctor
not to do surgery. maybe he can get me on some kind of
medicine. This is just too weird and scary. rebecca (rebelmax99 on aim)

's txlynn,

Please, don't ever not get medical help because you are afraid to run up a bill at the hospital. If there is something wrong, it needs to be found out before you have surgery, not while you're on the operating table.

None of us are doctors here, and there is no way that anyone could tell what is happening to cause that feeling, except for a doctor.

Please call your doctor or go to the ER now. It's better to go and not have it be necessary than to not go.

Please let us know what you find out.

I'm going to echo everything Karen has said - don't hesitate, call your DR or go to the ER.

Please let us know what you find out.

Chest pain is something to be taken seriously. You have to go to the ER to check this out. They'll do an EKG to rule out that anything serious is going on. If it is a panic attack they can help you with that also. If you're having panic attacks you don't want to have one right before surgery. They can raise your BP and pulse rate and I imagine that might cause your surgery to be cancelled.

Please go now.

Honey, please call your doc or better yet go to the ER. Yes, it could be a panic attack but it also could be something more serious. Do not let this grow into something that could be dangerous especially since this is the second time it has happened. Your body is trying to tell you something! Karen is right, it is better to find out now what is wrong then when you are in the OR. Good luck to you and let us know the outcome.....

Chest pressure

Rebecca,
Do not ignore this pressure...better you call and see your doctor and have them tell you it is nothing. Elevated BP can lead to strokes and damage to your heart and internal organs.....Believe me....I have been there!!! I had chest pressure preop and ignored it....figured it was all the indigestion I was having from no room left in my tummy....then it returned post op 6 weeks later when I had been off my BP meds for three weeks.....thought it was from overdoing things.....WRONG!! My blood pressure was was too high and I ended up being sent to the ER by my internist to see a cardiologist.....My EKG found a left bundle branch blockage but that wasn't the cause of the chest pressure....Once they put me on Diovan, my pressure came down and the chest pressure felt much better....I ended up having a cardiac cath done to be sure I didnt have clogged arteries in my heart.....
So the moral of this long winded story is: CALL your doctor!!!
Ignore your honey....they get so they let it go in one ear and out the other at times.....you need to worry about yourself now....
Please let us know how you are going....Good luck

Chest pains/ tightening

Iwent to the ER for the first time in 25 years last May, due to chest pain. Turned out to be a gall bladder attack, but I am so glad I played it safe. They ran the heart protocol, I learned I needed to watch my diet for my gall bladder, and that my heart was fine! Believe me, it is worth it -- life-saving if the chest pain has anything to do with your heart, and still useful if it is something else!
