NovaSure Ablation "Pre-Op" Process?

Hi everyone--

I'm so happy that I found this site! I've been dealing with heavy periods all my life and went on BC for about 15 years before I decided that I had enough. I went off them about 5 years ago and have tracked my periods ever since. In the last few years, they have become unbearable and I had a D&C last year to remove some polyps and try to curb some of the bleeding.

Not surprisingly, it didn't work. I was back to insane flow and length with the next cycle, not to mention throwing up in the bathroom at work every month. I have wonderful doctors and we've decided to take the next step with ablation. I don't want to deal with a hysterectomy quite yet, but it's possible that it could be in my future since my mother and all her sisters have had them for similar reasons in their 40s/50s.

I wanted to ask the women here what you had to go through in the day before and day of the procedure. I had a hard go of it with dilating my cervix before the D&C since I have had no children. Do you need to do this before the NovaSure? What meds did you take the day of? I am having the procedure done in my doctor's office and my partner will be there with me every step of the way.
