Upcoming hysterectomy 6/17: Bilateral oophorectomy still like sex?

I need to know if anyone has had both ovaries removed during their hysterectomy and still likes sex? I am only 32 and scheduled on the 17 th. My husband and my sex life has never been better. I don't want to lose it all. I need some hope. Thank you.

Sex is different for everyone after surgery. Some say it is better, some say it is worse, and everywhere in between.

I had a TAH BSO at age 46. Sex feels different for me. My orgasms are not as intense - I miss the contractions of my uterus. But, they are more frequent. We have to use lubricant, which frustrates me. My libido is not very high. I am on HRT - surgical menopause for me was MISERABLE. It did give me my life back on a day to day level. I recently started using vaginal cream to help my vaginal walls.

My experience may not be yours. But, talk much with your doctor. You can work through this, and with lots of love and patience, you will learn your new body.

Sex for me after losing both ovaries, was actually better. It stayed that way for about 10 months and my sex drive went away. I had to add in testosterone, and my sex drive returned to normal. It's quite a balancing act to get all those hormones in line, but it can be done.

I'm not sure that I can be lots of help since I'm only 3 weeks post op but I can tell you so far my sex drive is way higher than before surgery. My doctor actually has given us the go ahead to resume intercourse next week so that's great news. I had a total Davinci/V hysterectomy with both ovaries removed.

Did you have an Estrogen Patch after surgery? I'm having Davinci surgery friday, I'm having total Hyst. and both ovaries removed and will be getting a patch. I have the same concern about Libido!

I'm scheduled for the 25th to have a hysterectomy. I'm 28 and have the best sex drive/life with my fiance. We (my doctor and I) originally talked about taking everything out (I only have 1 ovary left) but I'm also very nervous about my sex life. We agreed to leave my ovary unless it looks completely awful and has to come out. Even if I have to go back later and take it out, I'm fine with that. I'm interested to see what everyone else has to say about this topic. I can't tell you how nervous I am about losing my libido. My fiance is already okay with not having any children (we have an 8 year old from my previous marriage) but I don't want to take sex away from him too!
